I just saw the Brigade Movement Order Schedule on my Class Facebook feed. Rough numbers, 0145 Muster; 0230 Busses launch (150 buses); 0900 ESPN Game Day; March on 1200; Kick off 1500; RTB after game (rolling schedule, but ETA 0215). Top that with a ****ty weather forecast (cold and rainy), and that is going to be a day to remember (or forget).

The only way that is going to be close to a good time is if Navy kicks Army's mule on their own turf...Coach Ken has his work cut out this year ..but records don't matter going into this one . (And frankly,I've never heard of half of the Schools that Army beat this year). BEAT ARMY !

My plebe and his roomie signed up for the 1:30 am hot breakfast and then they load up. I haven't discussed weather projections with him. He's done with finals and packing up and that is making him very happy.

I will be glued to the tv as I have been since I was little. My grandpa would be yelling at the screen and standing at attention at the win, and singing second in a nice baritone in the living room.

Anyone know how one streams the March On?

The WX report included 60% chance of rain, oh boy.

I was texting with some on-Yard contacts late last night, spitballing naval exercise names for this evolution of the Navy Bus-mada getting underway. I did hear 175 buses total. (Not busses 😉). As military members know, operation names can be fairly weird. The printable-on-public-forums ones included:

Operation Cluster Goat
Operation COVID Float
Operation Enduring Busride
Operation Longest Day
Operation Valiant Goat
Operation Deny Knight
Operation Naptown Overlord
Operation Rolling Bill
Operation Long Gray Day

You can imagine the ones that aren’t SAF-suitable.
Contributions??

Bad weather means one thing: we’re wearing the inspector gadget jackets instead of the slick looking o-coats.
I will be thinking of you all, thousands of damp, cold, what-the-heck-are-you-going-to-do-once-you-get-there-until-game-time-cold-box-lunch midshipmen having the mando-fun time of your lives. You will be telling this story when you are the Link in the Chain class, but that is literally cold comfort with this bus-ex game day coming up.

Take lots of pics. Wear strategic layers.
Pro-tips: Compression support sport knee-highs under dress black socks for warmth and looooong-day-on-feet. Ditto some gel insoles.

Ugh. Gross cold sitting in the rain. Lovely.

Not to rub it in ...but 1) I will be sleeping most of the time they are on the bus; and I will be drinking Guinness in my warm, dry, basement during the game. (Actually, I will probably continue my tradition of riding my spin bike for the first half --and cooling down with a beer and watching the running commentary on my Class Facebook page during the second; the local USNA/USMA Parents clubs are having an outdoor watch party this year, but I think I'm going to keep my distance).

I really do feel bad for the Midshipman this time....It's always a long day when you take the bus to the game, and the weather is often bad; but this sounds worse. At least they have finished finals and get to leave after the game,

Thanks for the advice! I really, really, don’t like the all weather coats. @Capt MJ @Old Navy BGO

I’ll be comforted by the knowledge that the whoops are forming up at 0845 for no reason for a game in their own stadium. Misery loves company.

The Navy has never gotten the hang of a good rain coat with a decent zip-out lining for all-wx wear. There were the old unbelted all black raincoats, very plain, which were water-repellent, not water-proof. I can attest to the difference. There were the Goretex ugly belted ones that kept you dry but not warm in a cold wind.
Of course, the Marines always look good in whatever outerwear they have on, because it’s well-made, quality material and tailored, and rain just rolls off them anyway.

Well... the Marines may look good but trust me, I have been wet, cold, miserable and uncomfortable plenty of times in uniform!
