BFE Appointment

DS received a BFE last week with appointment to USNA. Letter was dated 2 OCT. DS had presidential nomination.
 
CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's amazing! Will he be attending? That is awesome news to hear!

Wondering if they usually work through Presidential noms first?

Not really. Folks getting BFEs right now are almost certainly those who would be getting an LOA but already are 3 Q'ed and have a Pres nom. So -- b/c they have met all of the requirements in an LOA to receive an appointment (medical, CFA, nom) there's no reason not to sent the appointment letter immediately.

This happens with Pres noms b/c they aren't competitive and are issued as soon as the paperwork is completed whereas MOC noms aren't due until Jan. 31, although some are submitted earlier.
