My DD was offered an appointment about two weeks ago and will be excepting. She has not received her BFE, is there anything other than the certificate that will be arriving. I remember in post a year or so ago a letter outlining her army commitment 5 years vs 6 years and I want to say this also comes with a certificate? I think she will except regardless just want her to Fully understand her commitment.

Congratulations! :) Our DD was offered an appointment March 4, and she still have not received her BFE. Hopefully soon

Be patient on BFE arrival - they are sent out via US postal service. Some in my district (urban and very rural parts) are taking from 1 week to 3 weeks (weather). What is in your portal rules. Next year, nothing will be snail mailed to candidates. With exception of appointment certificates, all correspondence will happen through portals.

so far I have received a BFE and the EQIP fingerprint cards from USMA

The actual service commitment is 8 years, any combination of AD and Reserves as the current Secretary determines based on retention and need. Usually of late some had 5 yr AD commitments, and some had 6 yr commitments, but realize that the Secretary can modify commitments as needed, so I would not count my chickens till they are hatched, even if you graduate with a 5 yr AD commitment the Secretary can modify that to fit the services needs, and my understanding is until you "resign your Commission", you can be called back for AD at any time the Secretary determines a need. And any type of "specialized" training post graduation adds to the service commitment, as does moving up to get a branch you want (BRADSO). Make sure your daughter researches AD service obligations fully before making that choice.

Caveat: If this has been changed or updated hopefully someone will chime in with the newest information. Rising juniors sign the affirmation to actually contract, before that you can leave an academy without consequence.
