BGO Interview

Hey guys! So I've been talking with my BGO for about two months now and have submitted a few parts of my application. We scheduled my interview for Thursday and he said that it's customary to do the interview at candidates' homes, but I live kind of out of the way. Does anybody have any advice as to where else an interview can be done, or advice for the interview in general? I want to make sure it's done properly and coordinate things if needed.

Many BGOs like to do interviews in the candidate's home. However, for various reasons, others will do them in the BGO's home, BGO's place of work, or other mutually convenient location.

I wouldn't worry about that your home isn't convenient for the BGO unless he/she indicates a preference to meet elsewhere. If you prefer a different location to meet, you can always suggest it.
 
usna1985 is right. I always do my interviews in the lobby or coffeeshop of a nice hotel for a number of reasons. It is public when I am interviewing a minor, I have no interest in a candidates home environment and have no control over what can happen there (dogs, babies, little siblings, noises....) and I do not wish to banish the parents from an area of the house. I also don't want parents around---even in the other room--when I am talking to a candidate. Also I want to see how a candidate dresses for an interview for the biggest job of their life and it is hard for them to get in that state of mind in their own home. You could suggest another locale if you want---the BGO should not object.
 
The first time I interviewed a candidate in his home, he showed up in sweats, a T-shirt, and bare feet.

The second time, the family was doing home renovation and there was construction noise (from contractors) the entire time.

The third time . . . there hasn't been a third time.:smile:
 
My son's BGO met him at Panera for the interview, For my daughter's, he came to our home. My rising senior daughter will interview in mid July, most likely in our home, but we've moved since the last process, so its a different BGO. I would just go with whatever your BGO suggests!
