BGO interview

4 weeks and counting since BGO interview, rest of application complete...DD starting to freak and doesn't want to email for update again since no response to last email over a week ago :( So far this is most stressful part of this process! Amy advice what her next step should be or just continue to wait?

Counsel your DD to have patience. It took 8 years for George Washington to declare victory at the Treaty of Paris.

That was my advice to her, I think she is just frustrated because she worked her tail off to get application complete and feels out of control. Guess it can serve as a lesson for a military life you don't have control over more times than not

10 weeks since interview, application complete for two months and still no BGO report entered...where does DD go from here? Anyone know if there could possibly be a good reason to withhold an interview report?

Consider contacting someone higher up in the hierarchy and find out what's going on.

I was in your same situation until just a few days ago, when the state coordinator emailed me notifying me of my BGO's retirement from his BGO position. Prior to his retirement, I initially avoided asking my BGO about the evaluation's delay to avoid coming off as rude.

The state coordinator seemed almost apologetic in our conversation, saying that because of my evaluation's delay, I've missed many opportunities to get my application in front of the board.

Anyway, long story short: Don't be afraid to contact the next person up the chain. Yes, the admissions process is a waiting game, but 10 weeks after an interview with no portal update is a bit long.

Anyone who has had their BGO interview, how long did it take to show on CIS as received? My DD had hers two weeks ago and it is still showing as only item remaining to complete her application. She was unsure if it went to admissions first and then they updated CIS or if it would change status as soon as BGO sent report.
Interviewed on OCT 2 , dont know exactly what day the portal was shown , just checks it today the 23th , and it is there with the message complete pending review. It appears that it was submitted on the interview day as well.

My DS was contacted by his BGO to schedule his interview at his high school. My son goes to an all boys school and they where khakis, short sleeve button up, and a tie as their uniform. Should my DS change into a suit prior to the interview or stay in school uniform? It's scheduled for 3pm, after school.

Maybe SoCal is different, but when DS#1 had his BGO interview, it was conducted in our backyard patio (with parents discretely hiding in the house) and son wore jeans and t-shirt. DS#1 is now a Firstie at USNA. (Obviously he did wear suit and tie for congressional interview). DS#2 had his BGO interview in August 2016. Once again interview was held in our backyard with the same BGO and DS#2 wore jeans and t-shirt too. I think (just an opinion) if BGO interview is held on a school day, your son would be fine in his school uniform. I don't know if a suit is required for a BGO interview, it was not the case for us.

Swag: my advice to anyone interviewing for anything is two-fold: (1) What is your desired outcome? (2) Dress for it.

His school uniform should be fine. You can bet the BGO will be wearing whatever he wears to his/her day job.

Agree with Kinnem. Most BGO's are intersted in getting to know the candidate and want them to be comfortable. Just be neat and clean and well groomed.
The MOC interview is more formal and requires more formality.

I think I agree regarding the school uniform especially since it is directly after school in one of the school offices.
Thankfully it's a nice uniform and they are required to be clean shaven, short hair, and in a tie every day. He did wear a suit to his Marine Option NROTC interview and of course will for his MOC interview. Thank you all...don't know what I'd do without this forum!

My son had his interview go wonderful and the BGO raved about him to me afterwards. He wore khakis and a nice shirt. I guess it's personal preference, It boils down to who your son is, not what he's wearing in my opinion.

Two things --
1) Jeans & shirt perhaps too casual. School uniform is fine.
2) CGO will send the Application to the Board if interview is late/not submitted. While patience is a virtue, there is a chance that Board will review your application without the benefit of the interview. I recognize the dilemma of being too aggressive in contacting the BGO and/or going over his head to the Area Coordinator and the Applicant needs to make their own decision based upon the interview. Do keep in mind however, that CGO tracks the completion of the interviews, and sends Area Coordinators a list of delinquent interviews on a monthly basis, so I would wait at least a month until going over the BGO's head and contacting the Area Coordinator.

Thank you all! The interview was today in one of the school administrators offices and he says it went well. He said he would have felt ridiculous wearing anything other than his school uniform. He said it was a casual conversation talking about his future, goals, and accomplishments to date. He said his BGO was really down to earth and very encouraging. His NROTC interview was much more formal...suit and tie were a must!
