Billet Night Tonight!

how does going to an MSST or an MSRT effect your career progression? Does it give you any advantages or disadvantages in terms of experience that someone might look at before your next assignment?

Based on the future of the MSRT and MSSTs....I don't think it's looking like its a very advantageous billet.

yeah it seems like a fun gig, but doesn't really have a logical progression...

What does MSRT and MSSTs stand for? Thanks.

Coast Guard Maritime Security and Response Team (MSRT)
Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team (MSST)

I believe these groups are now encompassed under the umbrella of the Deployable Operations Group (DOG).

Correct, with PSUs, Strike Teams, etc...

No, I mean the units will go away....the people will go somewhere else.

Really riduculous. Isn't this because of the budget cuts facing the Coast Guard? (and to think the Joint Strike Fighter gets more funding than the entire Coast Guard)

2011 Billet Night

Tonight's the big night for 2011. I hope as many of you get what you asked for!!! :thumb:

Oddly enough the Lt. j.g.'s still haven't gotten their assignments yet. I thought that was usually done before billet night...oh well.

Good luck to the class of 2011! Hope you all get what you want!

Just saw the former Swab Summer 2009 RC...now an Ensign here representing her unit. I am still as scared of her as I was over swab summer with 2013.

They will very soon. Each year those assignments follow a pattern.. something like PATFORSWA billets, commands, XOs, operational, staff, etc. Changes at selective billets with boards cause a ripple, staff billets are more flexible. LTs are finding out now.

Certain jg's have been informed it could be as late as the end of April/early May before they receive their next duty assignment. Pins & needles for some

CGC Edisto, 110' out of San Diego!

That's really awesome BR!!! You'll have to tell us what it's like to be an Ensign aboard a 110' on SAF! :thumb:

Does anyone have access to the billet list? If so, please post on here so we can see how slots went for 2011, like 2009 and 2010.

Congrats to all of you in 2011!
