The list was published in a different format this year (in the past it has contained the city/state of the unit), but you can learn more about any of these units online.

229 total

20 - to Flight School

9 - to Sectors

200 - to Afloat units

I'm really surprised at the number of Flight School spots, especially after last year. I hope they keep it up though. :thumb:

I've never seen that many Sectors before either.

Stratton, Webber and FRCs are on there.....hmmmmmm....

Notice the one that is missing?

Coast Guard Decommissions Its Oldest Cutter

The U.S.S. Acushnet will be decommissioned on March 11 in Ketchikan.

By KTVA CBS 11

The Coast Guard's "Queen of the Fleet," the distinction given to the service's oldest ship, is being decommissioned this week.

Since 1944, when the ship was known as the U.S.S. Shackle, the Acushnet has had a long a storied service with the fleet. The cutter began its service in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and served during World War II in the Pacific, then served in the North Atlantic and along the California coast before coming to Alaska in 1998.

The Acushnet will be officially retired in Ketchikan on Friday. Its 80-member crew will be dispersed to other units after the decommissioning ceremony.

The Coast Guard says it has not identified a replacement cutter for the Ketchikan area, but even without the old ship, they say they will have enough resources to cover the vast waters surrounding Alaska.

SECTOR HONOLULU PREVENTION

Now THAT is a sweet billet! The Firstie that drew that slot should run out and buy a Lotto ticket.

That's my Company Commander's billet! All of the firsties have plaques they tape to the whiteboards outside their doors that say where they're going...everyone freaked when they saw he was going to Sector Honolulu.

If it's OK with your Company Commander, I think many people on this board would be interested in how the decision was made. Was Sector Honolulu a first choice? Why a sector and not at sea? Did the cadet have prior experience working there during a summer duty assignment? I think the board would benefit from the decision/selection process. Do get permission first before posting about it.

2012

Skuttlebutt has it the "anchor" cadet received the same billet ship as the #1 ranked cadet: UCGC MIDGETT out of Seattle.
