I am trying to figure out the best way to order a Birthday Cake or cookies to send my DS that will deliver them? I would appreciate any suggestions.

You should contact Bruce's bakery in Great Neck. They are the best around!

You could call Dalano..They were very helpful when I called. I was very glad I did it and and DS was too! By doing it thru the academy, it keeps it simple and they find out who your DS/DD is, their company, where they sit, etc. DS said the cake was very good and there was enough to share!! Good luck!

Contact "cookie mom" or Cookie Cafe' she got me in touch with a couple that attends weekly- all I had to do was call the bakery (think I used one on Northern Blvd.) Jean something- picked out what I wanted, paid for it and the couple picked it up too it to cookie cafe and made sure that my DS got his cupcakes. PM me if you want more details:wink:

My ds has a 20th BD tomorrow. Does the bakery deliver the cake to Delano hall and who did you talk to in Delano? Anyone have names and phone numbers of the Bakeries in the area? Thanks

Get Daleno to do it. They made a cake for our son his first two years at KP and it worked well. No fus, no mus it just gets done.

Kp2013dramamoma, let us know what you decided to do and how it turned out. This is information a lot of us can or will benefit from. And Happy Birthday to your son!:w00t:

My son will turn 18 during Indoc......I would like to arrange for a birthday cake, but the attention it will bring....will they be easy on him when he gets a cake for his bday or will it bring unwanted attention!?!?!?!?

I have absolutely no idea!!
Thanks,
Suzie

21st Birthday Coming What Should/Can I Do?

My 2/C son will be having his 21st Birthday this coming April, does anyone know if the liquor store on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck delivers? I know it's probably against the rules for the midshipmen to drink in the barracks - it certainly used to be when i attended KP, but hey, it'll be his birthday and since he won't be out at sea and able to really celebrate it "right", they'll let him bend the rule right?

I mean hey, why not right?

I really don't expect any parents to be able to answer this question but I figure that a few 2nd and 1st Class mids would have the whole skinny on this subject. You "park rangers" know who you are. If you're worried about this board being monitored and somebody (CO or "reg@*$%") turning you in and sticking you I understand just PM me. No rush, i have until April.

Thanks in advance and Acta Non Verba....

I personally wouldn't recommend sending a cake during Indoc. I think a nice card in the mail will suffice, and a cake on the first trip home :)

Wouldn't be surprised to see some Drill Instructor tell the poor kid to eat the whole thing himself

Or wear it. I am with you 100% on this one.

It certainly was back in my day, too (except for the pub), but, uh, er, that never really stopped me much, especially during First Class year. I do believe that it was about the same time you were there, too Jasperdog.

Indoc is a time to fly under the radar. Anything that draws attention to them is generally not a good idea, be it a birthday cake or a musical card. Dd's goal was to absolutely average. She'd have killed me if I'd done anything to draw attention to her. :thumb:

Indoc??? Fly under the radar

My DD's birthday was during Indoc...... Especially during INDOC we waited until AFTER to send mail and celebrated with a 'Cookie Cake" before she left home. As stated before.....you don't want to draw attention to yourself during Indoc.

She got enough 'grief and trouble' with her name.......'So what makes you so special......Kings Pointer??????

Jasperdog, I don't believe you for a second! :beer1:
You, my dear are toying with us,,,,,good one.

Our ds birthday came and went.....KP had a snow day and nothing could be delivered. I didn't even try ordering through Delano Hall. Since they knew the night before there would be no school, he slept in until 11 am o his BD:shake:. Now THAT was the best BD present ever!
