DS just report the practice has been postponed. He did not know til when..,

It will be a constant assessment with the weather and look for pockets of clear weather. I always think the practice is better. They usually go up 2 x 2 x 2 and get used to the air space and find the mid point marker (boat in the water) and boundaries. Then they usually do a practice show. The challenge is Annapolis has to close roads, so shifting that can be a nightmare for residents and those trying to move around. If a limited window they try to get the fam flight in. They will adjust if planes break during flight too.

.
Weather Underground is showing Friday rain/thunder starting before 9am and continuing throughout the day.

It always clears for graduation ! Threatened rain all of our Commissioning Week,. My Dad always told the story of his contingency plan if we had to move indoors -- I think we were all allotted 4 tickets in the event of indoor graduation, and I had a minimum of 5 needed (Mom, Dad, Fiance and her parents). Dad claims he was going to be the one to give up a ticket because he thought he would have the best chance of talking his way in. Good thing he didn't have to test the theory -- President Reagan was the speaker, and the assassination attempt was pretty fresh --so security was tight (at least according to 1985 standards --I'm betting its worse now).

True statement. My Commissioning Week was a mess weather wise, but Mother Nature made a beautiful day for graduation.

Did anyone else see the USAFA photos of graduation practice in the snow? Go Navy!

There was a USNA class in recent years that voted to go ahead and sit in the rain, no thunder/lightning predicted. Adapt and survive.

Just heard the Blues overhead! There’s no mistaking that military jet roar right overhead that shakes your breastbone. We usually see them shoot out over the house from the back deck. We are a 1/2 mile up a ridge from the Severn, upriver from USNA at Maynadier Creek and Round Bay.

I too, watched the Blues. I was not on The Yard, but the view from Gordon Biersch Brewery wasn't bad!

Heck, they're still out there flying!

Looks like they just now bugged out for Andrews. That was fun!

Planes 5&6 were out practicing earlier. Still hearing them but not sure if same two.

I remember my mother stayed up all night of our graduation until the rain stopped (same class as Old Navy BGO). Old Navy, we were allotted only 3 tickets if indoors! Worse, the speaker would be Sec Nav Lehman (vs. Prep. Reagan). Our class had a history with him, so it was going to be doubly bad. "Inside" meant the hot, sweaty, nasty Halsey Field House (pre-renovations). Not something to look forward to. Thankfully, the rain ended and it was a beautiful 72 degree, sunny day!!

They’re closing in on three hours and still going strong.

That was certainly a "low show" practice. We drove off the yard too early today! Looking forward to the show tomorrow!

Our plan is still to go down and watch tomorrow with the Plebe to be and his baby brother.
Note bridge closures and traffic adjustments for Blues today and Wed. Traffic gets snarled. Even on the Beltway and US 50 you have people looking up and not at the road. I think they are staging out of JB Andrews as usual.

You forgot “smelly” for pre-renovation Halsey. Decades of baked-in sweat, body odor and mold/mildew.

My plan is to go to Bay Ridge, closer to my parents place (they live near Quiet Waters) so we will be on the outer edge of all the mess.

Giving a shout out to the *Marine Silent Drill Team*….they performed in the rain this morning. ALWAYS GO!! We took our ponchos, sat in the far bleachers (away from everyone else), and were invited into the VIP tent!! Sat FRONT ROW CENTER. Wow. Spectacular. Rounded out the day watching the LONG Blue Angels practice from our private deck. What a magical (and chilly) day. Wow ✨
