What kind of applicants usually receive a scholarship from the first board? What do their profiles look like (ACT/SAT, GPA, Extracurriculars ect.)?

From what I know very few scholarships get awarded in the first couple months. These applicants are at the top of their game, lots of leadership, high sat/act and so on. They might had very good interviews as well. Some of these people are also looking at service academy as a plan A and with their very competitive package they receive a scholarship early. Most scholarships are awarded February-April which is what my coordinator told me. Even if you apply in October or November you can hear back all the way in April. Point is the people who get scholarships after the first board have an extremely good package.

Winner profile of a AROTC scholarship winner (not board specific) is roughly:

- 1270 SAT
- 3.6 GPA
- 37% in top 10 of class; 69% top 25%
- NHS 55%
- Varsity letter 75%
- Boys/Girls State 20%
- Team Captains 60%

DD was a winner in the first board from last year and her stats were a tad higher than the published profile.

our son was awarded NROTC on Oct 30. His stats were a bit higher than the average published. Boys State/Governor, Boys Nation, tons of community service, team captain, 11 years Taekwondo, 3rd degree black belt. Slightly higher SAT, all A's in honors and dual credits. His interview went really well according to his NROTC counselor and it has a lot of impact from what he was told. NHS member, tutor, Club captain, top 2% of class.
He is excited about the scholarship, it is is plan B, USNA 1st choice.
