I have been through the ringer on my path to becoming medically qualified and last week I thought I finally ironed out the issue. My DODMERB is complete but it is not yet synced and labeled as complete on my Navy portal. I was recently informed that I am also "Board qualified" or "triple qualified" and am still a bit confused about what he means as well as if my application is being held up because of the issue with DODMERB. Any clarification or insight would be great.

"Board" qualification is unrelated to medical qualification. Board qual refers to the admissions board and involves your academics, recommendations, activities. It does not evaluate your medical status. Board qualified is not the same as triple qualified. Triple qualified means Board, medical and CFA. USNA does not notify candidates if they are triple qualified.

Also, medical is a 2-step process. DODMERB qualifies or disqualifies. If you are DQ'ed by DODMERB, the USNA must give you a waiver to be appointed. You are automatically considered for a waiver -- it can come quickly, at the very end, or never. There are lots of threads on the top.

To be triple qualified a candidate must be qualified:
1. Medically (DODMERB)
2. Physically (CFA)
3. Scholastically (everything else)

Not sure who told you you were board qualified...as a BGO we were advised not to tell a candidate they were or were not qualified by the board.

Do you get notified by USNA if you are scholastically qualified?

NO.

As noted above, the better term is "Admissions Board qualified", as it covers more than just academics. USNA does not report the results of the Admissions Board to candidates. The BGO knows, but we are instructed not to disclose.

I'm a BGO and I have never told my candidates that they are 3Q'd. We are told not to, so I don't.
