Boards

I don't think, if your kid has any artistic ability, that it would be possible to "hide" it. Mine wanted to make his PS company's banners the best they could be, so he helped a lot with the design (which is his forte, not necessarily the execution of the design, though he is a decent artist as well) of said banners during the summer. This made him the go-to guy for design when the board issue came up.

Last week he was on top of the world. This week USNA is the enemy. I keep reminding him how adversity builds character, but I don't think he's buying it at this point.

Tell them to make the best effort possible and get everyone involved even if no artistic ability exist. They are looking for team work. It should also help those who may be weak in something else to help out a classmate in some other activity-academics, PT,.. life in general in Bancroft. The time will pass quickly and 3/c they will be..

Thanks cga82! That's great advice. DS tends to be a lone wolf when he gets down. Heck, it may even be that they rejected his board because he did it alone! Can't wait til those 3/c days arrive. I know there will still be tough days, but at least I think I'll sleep better!

Find a few friends even if not in the same company-church,sports,major-whatever and branch out from there. (Sometimes roomates can hurt the dynamic:eek:).Go to some of the 3/c they are their direct mentors. At any take each day as it comes and Thanksgiving and Christmas:smile: will be here very shortly-the time will go fast although it appears to be in slow motion right now! They will figure it out and time will help with this:smile: So relax as much as you can and know that they are in the best place to grow and be proud of(although some of their reports will not state such):thumb:.

Ok, so he finished the replacement board. It looks good to me. (trying to be objective, but of course I am his mom.) Hopefully this one will be the last one, and he can spend more time studying.

I received an email from my Plebe saying they have spent most of this week cleaning, because other companies have been destroying their deck. He also said that nine of their boards have been ripped by other companies..... so I guess they'll have to remake all of those. Just when we thought the boards were done and they could finally move on to other things!

Yeah, unfortunately some plebes think it's funny to go around and trash other company's boards. There is a big difference between trashing their entire deck with ketchup, mayo, and water-soluble paint vs. getting it all over their boards (even though both still suck).

Our company, as well as quite a few others, has people up extra late standing watch in case other companies come and try to hit us.
