Bob Hoover

He led a very interesting life.

What's amazing is that he lived so long despite all his death-defying aerobatics, test flying, combat, and even crashing a few times. It's a testament to his stick-and-rudder skills. At Oshkosh a few years ago I got to listen to some of his stories in person at a live presentation, and they were truly incredible. Very few people--maybe no one else in fact-- can say they escaped a POW camp by stealing an enemy fighter! He is a huge inspiration for anyone in aviation, especially military aviation, and I know I will continue to look up to him as I pursue my own career.

The refutation of the saying: "There are old pilots. There are bold pilots. There are no old, bold pilots." A one-of-a-kind man.
