Body fat standards

USMA sent out a mass email (not just addressed to me) saying I need to get measured for body fat standards because DoDMERB “reported your height and weight as being outside the Army standards in accordance with Army Regulation.” I checked the chart and I’m only over by about 5 pounds, but has anyone done this before? What are the body fat standards/maxes? What happens if you fail? I am already DoDMERB qualified for USMA, by the way.

What happens if you fail? Not sure in the short term, but there's no reason to fail a tape test, unless maybe you are a football player and trying to keep weight on for the season.

My DS got an LOA and then the letter saying he needs to get measured because height and weight are out of the standards. He is a football player, and is doing everything in his power to loose the 5 extra lbs. To answer your question, I believe USMA BMI max is 24%. USAFA is 18%. I don't know what's the procedure with USMA if you fail but USAFA send a letter to my DS saying his BMI was outside the standards and that the admissions board will take a look at his file and notify him by March if he is eligible for a waiver.
