Body Fat

At the height of weightlifting and d-lineman days, my boy was burning 8,000 calories a day and it was a full time job for him to eat that much to keep up... when he announced making weight for dodmerb was more important and dropped his intake to ultimately lose 50 pounds.. My wallet cheered [emoji1]

My food budget has seriously shrunk with 2/4 of my boys moving out in the last 3 years. Senior son up next. How is your son adjusting to Norwich?

**Hoping I remembered correctly where he decided!

My DS also received the AFA Candidate Body Fat Assessment Worksheet today. He does MMA 3 hours, six days a week. I was extremely surprised when I saw the form in his portal. Thank God his BFA was only 12%.

So DS was sent the form o-220 to test his body fat. Not surprised I have dense kids. Anyway, the nurse did the test today and measured his height about an inch shorter than Dodmerb. Because of that his numbers are 17.9% to 18.1% depending on the calculator I use. Does anyone know what calculator USAFA uses? Will he be asked to retest for 18.1%? Or is it DQ and hope for a waiver?

He is doing great, thanks for asking! A few speedbumps with his room mate not being prepared for the Corps of Cadets, but he is loving his cadre, his honors classes and finding opportunities he never dreamed of!

Thank uou

At this point in the process I doubt it will be an issue if he's a little off the mark. after he reports it will matter. In the meantime he can lose a few pounds and build up that muscle mass to avoid the issue, if he is asked to re-tape. I suppose he can even grow an inch or two more! :D

My DS in the Corps always has to be taped. He's all muscle and always weighs in over-weight. He never has a problem with being taped. Evidently it's fairly common in the Corps.

What's taped?

What's taped?

My son was either 3 or 4 lbs over at his physical. He is a muscular kid. He had to have his neck and waist measured along with height/weight to determine body fat for AFA. He ended up with 13.6% body fat which is well within guidelines. If he would decide on AFA if offered, he would probably try and keep his weight down to avoid the tape test. He has room within Navy/Army limits.
