I know we have a thread over at CC but maybe I'll get a few people over here. Is anyone making their packages before I-day? If so, anyone wanta give a little overview of what they packed or are packing. I just want to make sure I cover all my bases and don't leave out anything important.

OK. What is "Boodle"? Never had that term in my day. Everything was a Care package.

Are you preparing these for your parents to send, or are they doing it for you?

i'm leaving the care packages to my mom and little sisters (they have already threatened me with tons of homemade cookies). i think it will be more interesting to see what they come up with, especially since i don't really need anything. i'll probably help them out with lists on the fridge, etc, though.

I know you were just teasing BUT your nurses would probably die for these 30 paperbacks I've got collecting dust here. I've also got several good magazines from where I work to pass along. Is there still a shortage on the personals? Soap, shaving cream, d.o. & the like? PM me an address & give me a few hints on what you guys miss the most. And don't try to give me the slip either. I know where you are. :wiggle:

Now if they want to send any of those packages out here to Iraq....

Hey, are YOU in Iraq??? If so, this mom would happily send you cookies. In fact, just tomorrow I'm mailing 2 boxes of candy to an Army Chaplain in Iraq...have done that a few times during this deployment....

here is my email: nofoolingme2003@yahoo.com to contact me directly.

Don't do it, Doc! They're deadly!

You'll gain 10 pounds per bag! :shake:

I was talking to some mids yesterday who said that the benefit of bringing very little to I-day is greater than the benefit of bringing a lot of stuff to I-day.

Once again I heard the saying, "You could walk into I-day with nothing but the clothes on your back and you'd be fine."

I'll just be bringing hygiene stuff, a calculator, some white t-shirts, shoes, socks, and running shoes. As for the rest, I'll have that sent via care packages.

Yes I'm in Ramadi, Iraq and yes, I was just teasing. I'm fine and am set for al the essentials.
(Although I do think that the girl scouts are secret AlQueda operatives plotting to get Americans to fat to fight!:shake: )

 Did they tell us to bring something else?

Hey Navy doc YOU may be fine without my cookies! But what about your charges? Wouldn't a batch of homemade cookies cheer up the corpsman or one of the wounded?????

Are you SURE you don't want cookies
Don't listen to Zaphod....:)

There are many lists online of "suggested" items to bring to iday. I was referring to those items - you're right, I am only bringing what USNA said to bring.

I am walking into the Academy with my paperwork, my running shoes on my feet, and my calculator in my hand. My parents are walking to the post office and sending me the other things I need on I-Day once I tell them my address. You will not want to carry anything else on I-Day except for what they give you. Every person I have talked to said we would be fine walking in there with nothing, and I am going to have my parents send me the other stuff so I am super fine. They will also be sending fruit leather, beef jerkey, and Nature's Valley Peanut Butter Granola Bars, all of which I will be packing before I leave for I-Day.
