Boot list

My DS ordered true to size Garmont T8s back in Feb..he loves them says very comfortable..first big hike (several miles), Blue Ridge Mountains, he had blisters but guess that part of breaking them in...
Thank you!

Also, did you order them from the Cadet store?
If you also got the Bates Low Quarters, how do they fit?

I have heard that the low quarters run large, so I want to clarify.
Thanks!

I'm a size 11 in running shoes, Garmont T8s fit, Bates low quarters were large, had to order 10.5

Ordered both off amazon

I'm also in the process of ordering shoes and I was wondering if anyone could provide any clarification on what should be purchased for court shoes.

My son forwarded me a document titled Class of 2024 Instructions for Candidates Offered Admissions. I assume it's somewhere in the application portal. I believe it was his goal to have me "go to the wallet" to purchase the 4 required pairs of footwear he is required to show up with. Full disclosure: I did...in my mind it beats purchasing sheets, towels, comforter, dorm refrigerator, carpet remnant, and all that other crap DD needed back in the day.

The memo states:

(Authorized Footwear)
When reporting for duty on R-Day, you must be in possession of:
• 1 pair of boots
• 1 pair of low quarters (black leather)
• 1 pair of running shoes
• 1 pair of court shoes
• 1 pair of pumps (optional for females)

RE: boots and low quarters Posted to your Candidate Portal will be a document entitled “Authorized Footwear for the Class of 2024” a.k.a. “The Boot Memo”. The letter provides you with a one-time authorization to purchase from the Army Air Force Exchange System (AAFES), one pair of one pair of boots, one pair of low quarters, and (for females) one pair of women’s pumps. Low quarters and pumps may not be patent leather. The purpose of this letter is will allow you enough time to purchase, wear, and properly “break in” footwear prior to reporting for duty on R-Day. RE: running shoes and indoor “court” shoes Running shoes should be designed specifically for running (not cross training), and provide you with maximum shock absorption and a balance of motion control specific to running. Court shoes should have soles specific for indoor physical activity, with soles that do not damage or leave marks on courts/gym floors. As with boots and low quarters, running and court shoes should be worn and “broken in” prior to your arrival to West Point on R-Day.

BTW: now is a good time to purchase as the athletic shoe companies have 25%-30% off on their websites

Yeah, I received my low quarters yesterday in the mail. The Garmont boots fit true to size but the low quarters ran a size large for me.

The first admissible mailing (released Monday I believe) contained the boot memo had no mention of the court shoes. This memo was dated January 15, 2020, and I would imagine supersedes the instructions for candidates offered admission that appears to be simply copy-pasted from past years.

I got my Garmont T8’s in the mail today. They fit perfectly and seem to be very well made.

That is an excellent point. We might not have noticed that otherwise. Thank you for pointing that out.

Agree with you on the Garmonts! I like them a lot as well. Unfortunately I need a half size bigger on the low quarters so I will have to exchange them.

Also, for anyone wondering, I ordered my boots + shoes from the cadet store yesterday and they arrived today (in Michigan)! The kind folks at the cadet store overnighted them to me.

Is anyone else having an issue with the Garmont BIFIDAs, in that one of the metal eyelets cuts into your ankle a lot? I really like the boots but right now they're not suitable for rucking due to the pain.

My dad tried them on and complained about it, but I don't feel it and I've been wearing them around
