I saw that it is highly recommended to bring already broken in boots for bct. Any specific boot suggestions for a female?

You just have to try them on. We (and saying this because I had to order, return, order, return...) did mail order zappos/amazon/direct being careful of the return/exchange policy. Watch for military discount/email signup/first time buyer discounts etc.

My DD has tried the Nike, Rocky, and Danners specifically cited on the list. Bellvilles at the time were out of stock.
Nikes she likes but says since they aren't waterproof she prefers the Rockys even though they are a bit heavier.
Rockys fit the best and she says she can tell they are really good for standing up a long time. These she is breaking in.
Danners she did not like, citing "the ceiling is too low".
She wears a 8.5 - 9 womens and got 7.5 M regular RKC050

We went to Whole Earth Provision and she got all black running shoes.

I also ordered an assortment of "moleskin" bandages, and one foot got a heel blister so she's recovering from that and trying out the blister bandages. She says she likes them!

Just saying that I would highly recommend the Rockys! I live close to a military base, so I went to their military clothing store and tried on several pairs there. The Bellevilles dug into my heels, and the Reeboks (not on the list, but seemed to fit the requirements) dug into the top of my foot. It is honestly best to go try several pairs on at a store. Don't stand up in them for a second, actually get up and run around in them to get a better feel. The Rockys are the ones I ended up choosing and they're very comfortable!

I wear a 9-9.5 women's and got an 8 M wide.

My Rocky S2Vs came in yesterday. They're more lightweight than the Bellevilles, which will be issued to you at BCT (you will have two pairs of boots). I've also heard that the Nikes are good.

Are you all getting boots for the OCP uniform or for ABUs? switch over date is April 2021. How did you know which color to get?

Were the Rocky's true to size? How did they fit?

Nike said they are water resistent, should the boots be waterproof?

From my experience waterproof boots are great walking through wet woods / grass under cooler temps, otherwise not so great. If the water gets above the top of the boot it will fill with water and never dry out. If it is hot and you want to use them under normal conditions, than they don't ventilate as well for obvious reasons, so not comfortable in the summer.

Doesn't hurt to have a pair for actual field exercises but for normal activity a non-waterproof will probably work out best.

The Nike SFBs, Danner Rivot TFX, and Rocky S2V base models all explicitly state they are not waterproof. All are water resistant. You can buy the waterproof versions but most of my friends who tried them say they aren't as breathable (for obvious reasons) and thus they don't like them as much. In the hot summer days, they told me they rather have a breathable boot that dries out quickly than a waterproof version.

My DS is in contact with a current cadet that recommended the Nike SFB Gen 2. The cadet told my DS that the Nike's were in his opinion the lightest and felt more like tennis shoes. $165 on Google Shopping. With a $10 discount and free shipping they were $167.79 after adding tax. I'll update after he's worn them for a couple of weeks.

My DS who is a 23er had both the Nike and Danner boots. He opted for the Danner for OCP. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either one, as they are light and comfortable and with all the marching you will be doing as a doolie you want a good comfortable pair. He had a pair of the Nike for I-day and took the Belleville's for his 2nd pair. Those were only used at Jack's and then sat in his locker the rest of the year for inspections. His Nike's were done by Parents weekend as the sole was smooth due to drills.

DS had two pairs, Nike's for first Beast and everyday wear and the issued Belleville's for Jack's Valley and other more strenuous outdoor activities.

Are the issued Belleville's waterproof? If so, I will probably get a pair of water resistant boots so I can have one of each type.
