Boots Question

I recently reviewed the Appointee Instructions booklet for the Class of 2020 and I saw the boots have to be 8", Sage Green, Goretex liner, and no steel toe. My question is, are boots such as Nike SFB's allowed? If not, I was just going to get a pair of Belleville 650's. I was just wanted to clarify this before I purchased anything. I was just confused because there were no rules on weight of the boots and such.

***If you have any really good/comfortable boot options please let me know!***

I'm not USAFA Affiliated (obviously seen by my picture haha), but I would strongly recommend any boot by Belleville (I live on a military base, and most soldiers recommend Belleville). I bought a pair for USMA, and they work really well after you break them in (2 weeks of constant wear). Make sure you try them on in person rather than ordering them online because their sizing can be weird (I am a 11 in most shoes, but wear a 8.5 wide in Belleville boots).

Thank you for the suggestion. I will probably be getting a pair of them soon.

Is it necessary to buy boots before I day? I've heard a few different responses but the kit advises people to get comfortable with boots beforehand?

You will be issued boots on I-Day. You will not be allowed to wear any other boot during BCT. If you bring boots with you on I-Day, you will have to carry them around all day, and then they will be confiscated. Things tend to change, but I believe last year no non-issue boots were allowed until Parents' Weekend.

After PW, many cadets do get non-issue. Nike is very popular. They are light and comfortable, but do tend to wear-out a little fast than others.

Belleville makes the "mac truck" of combat boots. They may not fit you the best, they may be heavy, but they last a good while.
Some people love them for that. Some people hate them.

The issued Bellevilles/Wellcos are very durable and work well. Those are what are issued in ROTC.

For lightweight boots, I would recommend Rocky C4T. Just as light, and more durable than the Nikes.

I would not bother buying Bellevilles beforehand as those will be the same type of boot you will be issued, and they don't really need breaking in. You probably wouldn't want to wear Nikes in Jack's Valley anyway, and it is highly year dependent on whether you can wear them at all (I've heard rumors that the BCT Commander isn't going to allow it). I would, however, HIGHLY suggest getting a pair of Nike or Rocky boots (or some other comfortable, light ones) at the beginning of the school year or as soon as you are allowed to.
