So I have received the boots/low quarters memo, and I am not sure what to get . If anyone had any recommendations that would be much appreciated.

Haven't seen the memo but do you have to buy them now? Don't they issue them to all on the first day?

You can buy them online. The general advice on the low quarters is to get the durashocks. The boots are up to you as long as you buy one of the boots listed.

Modern boots don't need much breaking in but smart to do a few hikes in them regardless.
DS `21 liked his BFIDA Garmonts.

Get the Durashoks and break them in a LOT. Many many hours spent in beast wearing LQs.

My son bought the Garmont boots and Bates durashocks for low quarters. He has been breaking them in and says both are comfortable.

I read reviews on both the Garmont boots and the Bellevilles -- it seems like the Garmonts break their shoe lace hooks, and the ballbearing gizmo clogs and breaks. The Belleville seem to have more favorable reviews. Prices vary online, as do available sizes - so shop around. YMMV.

DS loves the Belleville Khyber II boots ($134.99 Amazon, but shop around). He wore them to NG drill (couple rucks) about 3 days after receiving and had no difficulties. Agree with the other post- the Bates Durashock LQ will be worth the break-in time.
    Congratulations and Good Luck.

We went with the Belleville Khybur TR550. Easily found online.

    Bates Durashocks.

My DD went with the Belleville Khyber as well. Her Sgt in JROTC had a very similar version from Belleville and he really liked them. She has been happy so far.

Basic issue boots for the son - not fancy, just tough. :)

I'm not sure those are authorized, I would wear mine because I know they fit and are broken in l but I didn't see them on the boot memo

"DLATS OCP Combat Boot, coyote color...This is the standard issue boot and requires a more significant break-in, but is the most durable boot."

Quoted directly from the Authorized footwear memorandum for the Class of 2022.

    It's the boot I wear.

They're easiest to clean up for garrison but I will never again take them into the field.

Ah. I see my misunderstanding now, when they said 'these are the standard issue' I thought that meant standard issue at usma, I wasn't sure if their standard issue was the same as bct. Thanks for the clarification

Garmont and Durashocks are definitely the way to go. Little pricey but should be worth it
