Hello all, I have been shopping around for a good pair of boots for I-Day and have had a lot of trouble settling on a specific boot. Right now I am thinking about the Nike SFB Gen 2 but there are mixed reviews on them. Any boot recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend the Danner Tachyons or the Mini Mils, I’ve had the Tachyons for >2 years now and have no complaints, they’re extremely comfortable boots. I’ve heard the Mini Mils are also very comfortable, just that you’ll have to wear the heel in. The (Sage green) Tachyons are 75 and the Mini Mils are 60. I’ve also heard mixed reviews from those who have gotten SFBs so I would be weary too. Hope this helps

I was looking at the Danner Tachyons but they do not meet the academy requirements because they are not waterproof. I should have specified in my earlier post, according to the academy, "These boots must meet the following specifications: sage green in color, 8 inches high, have a rubber sole, and a waterproof upper bootie (Gore-tex or similar)."

That portion of the instruction is a little ambiguous, since they recommend gore tex, but nike doesn’t offer gore tex sage green SFBs, and many cadets show up with the non-gore tex, to be safe I’d just bring some insoles and stick it out with the SI boots and have your parents bring you boots on A-day. You’ll probably wind up trashing the boots you bring with you anyway

No boot is actually waterproof, just water resistant. There's a giant hole in the top to let water in.
But on a more serious note you can waterproof your own boots by getting some waterproofing treatment that they sell on Amazon or most outdoor stores.
Also I can guarantee you that the SFB boots from Nike are not waterproof. When you start looking at lightweight boots they become more and more like hightop tennis shoes with traction and less like actual combat boots.
