Boys State vs SLCDA, which one is more important to Academy Admissions if you could only attend one of them?

Have you tried reaching out to your local American Legion post? The American Legion Auxiliary runs Girls State and they're the ones who should be pretty close to the first to know.
The local post did not know the dates.

Have them put you in touch with your District or State Legion/Auxiliary organizations. The internet says that their contact info is:
Address: 1624 E Anderson Ln, Austin, TX 78752

Phone: (512) 476-7278

They are the policy makers who actually run Girls State. Another way to go about it would be to look at the venue where they hold it. For us its a college and the college has the dorms, etc reserved well ahead of time for the event. Contact the college and someone there should know.

I can't and won't speak for your state but in mine and others that I know, it is held the same week every year. In our case, Boys State starts on Fathers Day every year. I know that other states do similar scheduling type things because they need to fit in the event among other events like their conventions, etc.

You wont believe how many times I have called this number, left vm and no return message. I have sent email to couple of contacts I got, now wait and watch for next few days. I also left a message on the fb page

Can somebody point me to summer 2020 dates of TX girls state? Since the SA summer seminar applications are about to open, want to make sure we have the dates handy. I looked at the Texas website for girls state, but could not find any information, tried googlng also but no verifiable dates.
I needed that information for 2019 AZ. Legion hadn't listed it yet. Ours is held at same location each year. I emailed that college and they gave me the dates. Maybe you could try something similar?

Yes, I will try that also. Thank you for the advice.

check out their facebook page

Parent's perspective:
1. The stuff you buy for this will be put to use again for SA camps and overnights!
2. SLCDA application is quite extensive - application, essay, fitness test, forms, picture, rec letter, more forms, it's like a mini SA application! But this is a GOOD THING. The side benefit is your teachers/GC will get on their radar that your DD/DS is likely interested in SAs.
3. Free was nice! If this is your DD/DS's first time to fly solo, it's excellent b/c then they are experienced for the next year to take trips to SAs by themselves! They do a really good job and have things very organized!
4. I would not make a trip to the closing ceremony. They streamed it.

DD informed me she got email that SLCDA June 2020 has been cancelled. Another COVID-19 casualty. There were approx 120 selected this year and I am sure the others selected are just as disappointed as she is. Announcement is now posted on the Marines/SLCDA facebook page.
