Hello all, I am going to do Army ROTC down at the University of Tampa. I have a business that doesn't make much money but I will hopefully get around $12,000 profit this year. What do I need to do if anything in terms of paperwork? Do I have to tell the Army I have a business? I have the paperwork and everything for the business.

I probably should have added that I work with some international people. I sell to people in the US and Mexico only so far but I buy my stock from China and Zimbabwe.

No, but it would show leadership and drive, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't. ROTC looks at the whole person; if you are running a small business, that can say a lot about your time management and administrative abilities. Should you ultimately commission as an officer, I'm sure you will have to provide far more detail in order to get a security clearance.

You will need to report your self-employment and foreign stock exchange transactions when you complete your security clearance application when you are closer to graduation.
