Very sad news -- on the WP c/o 2018 Parents FB page, a 2018 CC from Michigan passed away in his sleep last night/this morning. His name is Ryan Fischer and he was a hockey player.

Terribly sad.

To add to the post above, the latest news reports quote the father saying that the ME indicated an "enlarged heart" as contributing to the death.

Horrible News

What a great young man, the kind of kid any parent would be proud of. This really puts things in perspective...

Prayers and condolences to the family.

This is so sad.. I am praying for his family. The Class of 2018 will surely never forget him.

Agreed. Every parents worst nightmare. So sorry for your loss.

This is horrible news. This is something that is close to my family as I have a 12 year old DD that suffers from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy . Often times this condition is misdiagnosed as an "enlarged heart" and sudden cardiac arrest is the first and only symptom that the patient suffers. Hypertrophic cardiomyopthy is the leading cause of sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes. So many times it goes undiagnosed as only 25 % of those affected have a heart murmur.

My heart aches for this family and what they must be going through.

Prayers...

I very sorry for the family on their loss. RIP

I heard about this from the Class of 2018 Facebook group, and even though I've never met Ryan and live across the country from his family, my prayers go out to them. If it's a shock to me to have already lost a classmate, I can't even imagine what those around him must be going through. I agree with Maplerock; it certainly does put things in perspective.
