The BFE was supposed to have gone out on 2/12, we got it today, in NY, postmarked 2/23. this has been a long time coming! (2nd time around for us) and The telephone wires were fairly humming between home and college!

Congratulations sprintmom!!! DS is still waiting for BFE.
Our saga continued.
After the MOC called- we texted DS, he called and we told him the news. He was so excited he called his BGO. Who promptly was like.. "well he (referring to MOC) doesn't usually call; are you sure it was about the appointment and not just about the nomination"? SO DS calls us back, asking for verification, and now my husband is spooked. This was the conversation- "well I was pretty sure he said "appointment".... why else would he have called" and then he tried (and failed) to recall every word. We were 99% certain and deflated at the same time. Luckily, the MOC had organized a reception for all his nominees a week later. DS came home from college to attend. MOC came right over almost as soon as he arrived, and gave him the good news in person. Whew!!! Crazy week.:yay:

Just keep in mind that USNA doesn't send out the BFE right when you get the call (if you do) from the MOC. I got my MOC call on a Friday, and the BFE was mailed the next Thursday, and received the following Wednesday (today!). I guess it seems like a long time, but really it isn't too bad since they wait several days to mail after notifying MOCs it appears.

Ok so DS Admission Counselor was nice enough to email him this morning the electronic copy of his LOA dated Feb 2nd. He has two items on there that needs to be met by March 1st but yet that LOA still hasn't arrive in Cali! (SMH). Thank goodness DS was medically qualified a few weeks ago and the other requirement which we didn't know about was completed just today. If it wasn't for the Admission Counselor not sending that electronic copy we would've been late with complying with the requirements. So now we are no longer stalking for the LOA but for the BFE just like the rest of us here.

I left a note on our mailbox for the letter carrier to call me if we got a letter from the Department of the Navy, told him what the letter would hopefully look like, and gave him two cell phone numbers. My wife thought that was pathetic and publicly outed me on Facebook.

How many have called their MOC office to ask about noms and slates? DS does NOT want to do this and I'm chomping at the bit......
Would calling toi inquire be bad form at this point?

We've called and the office even told us two people were DQd from his noms. Worth a try

I broke down and made the call to the MOC. I led off with, "I really don't want to be 'that Mom', but..." The call appeared to be well received. I was informed that 2 people on the slate didn't pass the physical, that the slate was very competitive, that my DS was 'one of their top choices', the slate was unranked, that my DS's file had been reviewed by the USNA and marked as 'Competitive' and that 2 on the slate hadn't been reviewed yet by USNA. So even though my DS was opposed to my making the call, it gave me some satisfying information to chew on and humored me a few more days in the waiting game. Still waiting... I've become obsessed with these Forums like a bad edition of NJ Housewives. The Forums give me both peace of mind (when I see that others are waiting too) and full body anxiety (when I see all of the BFEs that have been received. A true Congrats! to them!! ) And I've been keeping the information to myself lately because it seems that I have been starting every family conversation with, "According to the Forums" and my family can't take it anymore...

I laughed out loud in my office when I read this. That's OK about your family, my husband converted to forum stalking as our wait extended and started quoting forum info to me (not DS- no time!)

To Whom Did You Speak With to receive all of this information? I am guessing the Liaison at MOC's office?

I have thought about this several times today and chuckle each time. Thanks for adding some humor to my day, whether it was intentional or not :D
