c/o 2019 wait list

To second what MarineDadHopefulNavySon's posted, a member of our Senator's staff told me that about 40% of the USNA class of 2019 has been out of high school at least a year and that it used to be about 33%. Also, we've come to understand that DS is better prepared to be a Plebe after a year of college. That's not to say that we weren't disappointed when he did not receive an appointment on his first try. We were.

I also want to comment on the notion that those who did not receive appointments were "rejected." It's not original to me, but a comment I read last year was very helpful as we helped DS deal with the letter notifying him that he was not selected. Those who apply and do not receive an appointment are NOT rejected. You are not selected. You do yourself a disservice by thinking of yourself as rejected. You are honorable applicants to a competitive program for which there are extremely limited slots.

Good Luck GySgt!!! I think we all will hear one way or another by this weekend. Let's hope it is all good news.

At NAPS graduation the Superintendent said the class of 2019 was the most intelligent, most diverse, and has the largest percentage of females (27%) than they've ever had. Sounds like a reasonable explanation to be "not selected".

just curious outside of Zmansmom and GAXC, has anyone else heard word on wait list status?

Still holding out with hope in TN, DS checked the website this morning and is still on waitlist with his updated information uploaded.

We probably have the same Admissions Counselor since we are both from Georgia.
Everybody please keep posting so we can celebrate with you if you find out good news! We are getting back on the rollercoaster for next year so hopefully we will see you all either during Plebe summer or after

To all who are rejected,or anxiously waiting... DS #1 got in on first try. DS#2 was rejected sometime in May. Got in after a year on a NROTC scholarship. Did not have top SATs, not minority, not recruited athlete. Just normal good all around kid. Got to live abroad for six months at a foreign naval academy, since he was ahead in subjects from his college year. Served as company commander his firstie year. Got his first choice service assignment. DS#2 claims he got a better deal than DS#1( who also was co commander and got his choice of service selection). He got to experience a year of regular college! Keep trying, it always pays off whether at USNA or elsewhere.

Looking back to last years wait list it appears a lot of TWE's arrived around the second week of June.

Good luck to those still waiting.

they may actually go out today as my DS got the wait list TWE email about 35 mins ago. Of couse the email may have beentriggered by his submission an update email of an award that was given to him on Friday night.

any word from the remaining on wait list status? still hopeful for all who remain.

DS said that he plans on re-applying and wants to open the application up tonight. He will be attending Plan B for the Fall/Spring and has lots of determination to be standing in The Yard at the USNA on Induction Day for the Class of 2020. :)

I still haven't heard anything in California. I started my application 12 months ago. looking for closure

Received an e-mail today from USNA: not selected from wait list.

I am in Montana, I guess we'll have to try for c/o 2020

For all those who received THE email, does your application status on the portal still say you're on the wait list?

missourihopeful...my DS checked his portal last night (before he opened up a new application for Class of 2020) and the wait list section had disappeared and was replaced with a "Turned down by USNA" So if yours still says wait list...here's wishing for you to hear good news!
