C/O 2020 HEADS UP!

Thank you so much for the head's up!!! DD filled out the application and hit the submit button and a blank application form showed up. There was absolutely no acknowledgment of filling out the application. Hate to have her do it again if it has already truly been submitted. Anyone else have this same experience? Thanks in advance

I got the same thing after I clicked submit, but I got an email the next day stating that my application was received!

Awesome! Good luck to your (DD) and you as well. Parents never get recognition, but the support is what gets us through it all!

I do not want to appear ignorant, but I have read and re-read the steps for the VP nomination and cannot find anywhere what letters of recommendation are required. The online application has a place to put the essay and then it states, " Letters of Recommendation: Please send all letters of recommendation directly to the Military Academies." with an address of where to send them. Are these LORs the ones requested on the AFA Admissions website?
  • 11th or 12 grade English instructor
  • Math instructor
  • One other instructor (preferably Science, but may be History, etc.)
If so, my understanding is the application for the VP nomination is filled out and submitted online including the essay. Then three LORs are required as stated above and they are sent to the USAFA admissions department during the time the SA application is completed by the potential candidate. Do I have that right?

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

I think that these LORs are the same ones that are requested on the AFA admissions website.

"it is important that all correspondence subsequent to actual application (e.g., letters of recommendation, high school and college transcripts and ACT/SAT examination results) be forwarded directly to the academy when requested."

The letters of recommendation that go with the actual application are the one's that you listed.

I'm currently applying for a VP nom and I'm not really sure what to put for hobbies and life goals. Not sure if by hobbies they mean stuff like playing video games or walking on the beach, it seems a bit silly to put those as my hobbies..... What did you guys put?

PS: Thanks for the heads up TS!!!

Last year, I think I put Civil Air Patrol in as one of my hobbies...Do you have any hobbies that you feel contributed mightily to your application? Hobbies that involved leadership, athletics, volunteering, etc.? You want to be honest with this but it's great if you can find hobbies to list that showcase your potential as an applicant!

When DS applied for the USNA VP nom, it stated when he was done filling it out (it took 5 minutes) that no letters or essays are sent, even though it said earlier to send them. We sent nothing else but the quick electronic questionnaire and received a letter from USNA in Dec. acknowledging the VP application....It was easy-peasy.

Does anyone know if the essay 3500 character count is supposed to include spaces as characters or not?
