C/O 2026 must be vaccinated before Iday

Did you and your Dad ever donate plasma?
I donated plasma, my Dad is terrified of needles and refuses to let one near him. Back when he had to get blood tests done he almost passed out...
I thought that it would a be good idea to donate since I should've had the antibodies. However, the donation center they required a certain amount of time after my symptoms subsided before I could donate. My antibodies were negative, and we think that because I had such a mild case my antibodies dissipated before I donated. Even though I was negative for the antibodies, it felt good to donate.

What were your symptoms? And when did you get it?

I tested positive late July of 2020. It presented itself as allergies, runny nose, sneezy, and a slight headache. I thought it was just since I was in Colorado at the time (different climate than Vegas). My dad's work made him get tested, where he came up as positive. I got tested twice in Colorado, one rapid and one send out. They both came out positive. We rented a car, drove back to Vegas, and I quarantined for two weeks. My symptoms went away about three days after testing positive. If I never got tested I would've shaken it off as allergies, it was that mild.

Interesting.

Same time frame as my father and same symptoms. Same two tests.

Not looking to stir the pot and get into a debate, but thought I would pass along information that I know....

DD has a teammate c/o '25 who is not vaccinated. He's opted not to get vaccinated for now and can't compete with the team. He has not received an exemption, for anything, including already having covid. Not sure what they will be doing with him, since he still there and returned for the spring semester.

I'm assuming it just takes a little more time, but will either need to be vaccinated or won't be coming back next year, again only an assumption. Difference being c/o '25 entered when the vaccine wasn't fully approved, now it is, just like the rest of the shots needed for I-day.
they are being told they have to get them or out. might be different for athletes, not sure. c/o 25 and c/o 26 (preppie)

I can sum it up for you. He will either get the vaccine or be sent on his merry way. I’m not pro vax at all I believe it should be a choice but it is DOD mandate and they are considered active duty it just hasn’t caught up to him yet.

Not sure if anyone else saw this too, but I got this email from USAFA admissions.

“Many have inquired about the requirements for the COVID-19 vaccination for those who may be appointed to the Air Force Academy. Please be aware that DOD policy currently requires that all service members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. However, service members do have the option to apply for a medical, administrative or religious exemption.

Arrival instructions regarding COVID-19 vaccination status for the Class of 26 will be available when they are established. As USAFA develops the Appointee arrival instructions, we encourage each of you to get vaccinated for COVID-19, to include the booster if able.”

ARTHUR W. PRIMAS Jr., Col,
USAF Director of Admissions
United States Air Force Academy

That sounds pretty clear to me that they want people to be vaccinated, but there’s still a bit of ambiguity surrounding the procedures.

Hope this is helpful to those who were unsure and answers some questions about the waivers.

I got the same thing!

My son has two shots, the second one really affected him, badly, for a week. He wasn't looking to get the booster, but after receiving the email, there is not much to think about.

True. Just have him make sure the Booster is the Correct amount of vaccine. There have been mistakes made.

I can't imagine this.

Soldier: "Sir, I got hit. Bleeding too much. Help!!!!"

Prestigious SA Graduate: "No worries. You are ok.
But first things first!" "Let me..."

Soldier: "Ahh..sir...help!"

Prestigious SA Graduate" "As said, first things first!"
"Are you fully vaccinated or partially?" "I can't locate your vaccine card now!" "First things first. Where is it?"

Soldier: "What the $&#.....Just do it!"

??? this makes no sense.

From time to time, it's good to "watch" how people react to an idea that is not aligned with their intelligence, prejudice, biased thoughts, different ideas, education level, different experience, etc.

The common response from those who have biased minds and/or don't allow different ideas or thoughts is that they use the specific key words including drunk, stupidity, hospital, mental, etc.

It is always the same regardless of forum types including SA, automotive forum, Reddit, local community forums, facebooks, etc.

Since they are not the same people, we have a high chance to screen those people by seeing the same or similar responses with the "key" words.

It's incrediblly accurate and consistent.

Just wanted to point out here that they seem very firm about one thing: As things stand RIGHT NOW, they will 100% require the vaccine. However, I found that the use of "currently requires" indicated that they consider a change in policy enough of a possibility (definitely not plausible, but still there) that they included that unnecessary word in the carefully-worded email. You can see at this link that the courts are cautious about the mandates, even if a full repeal would be a massive undertaking:

Not saying that this will happen, but especially as the tide seems to be turning on all things COVID, there is that remote possibility out there. There probably won't be any new groundbreaking data on the efficacy or safety, rather I see the main crux of the issue in the future being the legality of the mandate.

I have seen the data. The military won’r release it and Senator Johnson is fighting to get it.

We are living in interesting times.
