I was wondering if anyone can post or message me the new packing list? Looking to start ordering some stuff to start getting used to everything as soon as possible. I don't have it in my portal yet. Also does anyone know when the boot letter is sent out (btw actual letter or letter in portal? Thanks!!

Btw are these the correct socks everyone recommends and in the correct color we're supposed to get (Coyote Brown I believe)? Or are there other colors to get boot socks in? Thanks

Thanks for the post!!!! Does anyone know if I'm supposed to get black or coyote boot socks? Or do I get book socks in both colors? Looking at the form it had both as options so I'm unsure
You may want to wait for the actual list for 2021 with respect to uniform items and definitely do not rely on the list for 2019. The boots and uniforms changed for the the Class of 2020. Although the color scheme for 2021 will probably be the same, the approved manufacturers and styles may change. The low quarter shoes are unlikely to change.

This is January. The people who have to scramble are those appointed in late April, May, and June.

Unless they have changed things, you will only need one pair of socks to wear with your boots on I-day. You will be issued all the other socks you need.

@FalconsRock - the sock requirements for I-day may be different from the requirements of R-day.

For the past two years, the sock requirements have been listed in the packing list for Rday. While WP will issue some socks, it's not a bad idea to bring some with you on Rday since you will likely need more than the issued quantity.

Requirements change year-to-year, and even the "requirements " are strong suggestions – but if you and your family can't find or afford what is needed, don't worry.
In years past, the cadre (supervising upperclassman) have been told that appointees can show up in their underwear, be issued with what they need and that if the $2000 deposit is not paid by R-Day day, it will automatically be deducted in small increments from a cadet's pay without any need for action by family. As other posters said, wait for the official list; even then, don't worry about it too much.

Understanding there is a ton of excitement and anticipation out there among the soon to be new cadets and also understanding this is a great forum to ask questions I will agree with previous answers to this question. You will soon receive the official packing list for beast that will include a list of mandatory and suggested items. You will also receive a boot letter. It will come in plenty of time to get what you will need for r day. As a side note, for the suggested items to bring...you will hear a broad range of recommendations from this group (all are very well intentioned) from only bring the bare minimum to pack 12 extra pair of compression shorts (something mt 2018 and 2019 cadets did and did not regret.) The point is there is no real right or wrong answer. Read the suggestions and make decisions based on what makes sense to you. All opinions are well intentioned! Best of luck, have patience, enjoy your senior year and GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!

My bad. I was referring to USAFA. I did not read the forum location. Good luck to you.

Enjoy the journey! Packing list will be your guide as has been stated here before my post. You could literally show up in your underwear with your footwear and probably do just fine. But the extra stuff might bring you comfort to know you have it. Your fun begins now! Finish strong whatever you are doing now.

Current Cadet here - if you show up to Beast butt naked and with the items on the mandatory list, you'll be given everything you need to make it through. Don't worry too much, you'll be okay. If anything, I would recommend Fox River socks (they're amazing) in black, and some kind of fabric cleaner for your physical training uniforms (which will be issued) - they get dirty fairly quickly and since the laundry service can be slow, you'll need to wash them in the sink if you don't want to feel disgusting every morning.

Other than that, you really don't need to worry. There's very little you can do to make Beast any easier on yourself; the only thing that is guaranteed to make Beast easier is a good attitude and sense of purpose. You can shoot me any other questions, but keep in mind I'm not always going to have time to answer.
