CABS Calculus

Does anyone know if there is further placement testing for Calc 1 during Plebe Summer or is the CABS testing the only validation testing for Course? Thanks! :thumb: Go NAVY Beat ARMY!!
 
During plebe summer there will be validation exams given. I know DS took several and validated out of Calc 1 and 2, Chemistry, and some other classes that I can't remember off the top of my head. Some how he couldn't find the calculator he brought with him for plebe summer so he was stressed at the time of his validation exams, but apparently it turned out okay. So if a calculator is on this year's list of things to bring to plebe summer, then make sure to bring one.
 
I was so stressed that DS forgot his calculator, does anyone know if they do supply calculators in those situations?

Yes - I have heard that they do have spare calculators for those who need one. It'll all be OK! :thumb:
Have you checked out the USNA Facebook page? They posted a bunch of pics yesterday of the Plebes taking validation exams. Today's pics were of noon meal formation. Lots of fun to see what they're up to!
 
Thanks! I figured they did, just one last thing for me to stress over! :). I have seen the FB page! Looked hard, but have not spotted my Waldo yet!

Here is the academy's validation policy:

If they got a "5" on the AP exam, they will automatically validate Calc I. One of my sons, who validated Calc I, still had to take some kind of Calculus validation exam. When everybody was told their results, he was not told that he validated. It wasn't until later that you discovered that he had automatically validated Calc I by virtue of his "5" on the AP exam. I have no idea why he even took a validation exam. Perhaps they were testing him for Calc II validation - I don't know.
