Cadet is 3YR AD AROTC Scholarship recipient with no prior service.

Contracted at the start of sophomore year of college (in October of 2020) and received CAC a few weeks later.

Slated to commission as a 2LT May on May 19, 2023 and to start BOLC on 11 Sept 2023.

Not doing camp cadre or gold bar recruiting in the period of time between commissioning and the start of BOLC.

Question involves the fact that CAC expires on May 13, 2023.

HRA and Cadre (and even folks at closest Army Fort) have advised not to worry about getting a new CAC until BOLC.

However, without a CAC for the entire summer, can not access military email which will, no doubt, be sending important information regarding reporting to BOLC in September as well as information re first duty station (which is still unknown at this point.)

Other cadets in her program are a different status (example - not scholarship recipients and so contracted later and so CACs don't expire in May or are prior service, etc.)

Is there an office to call or form to fill out? Seems pretty important to have a CAC in order to access military email in the weeks prior to BOLC.

I cannot speak to specific Army requirements, but this year, for whatever reason, half of my graduating Mids have CAC cards that expire 2 weeks before they commission.

I put a memo out on letterhead explaining the issues they may require cac for, including last minute medical exams, trips to uniform shop for items needed for commissioning, and a couple of others.

They took a van over to our main base at Navy Yard and they all received cac cards up to their commissioning day.

As for email, I do not think they require digitally signed cac emails. If they do, then I would go back to the cadre and ask how they are supposed to receive those emails. Again, the Army may do things in a completely different manner.
