Hi there,

I am a current high school senior with high hopes of being selected for the 3 year AD ROTC Cadet Command Scholarship, or even the 4 year option.

Despite my hope and desire to be granted this scholarship, my application is very uneven and worries me.

Freshman through sophomore year, I lived at my mom's house, attending a small, rural school. I was a three sport athlete freshman year, and a two sport athlete sophomore year. In my first two years of high school, I earned 3 Varsity letters, was apart of 3 Conference Champion Teams (2 being Varsity teams), All Conference Honorable Mention in Track sophomore year, and was the female recipient of the "Baron Award" in track sophomore year. Academically, I never earned anything below a solid B in these first two years, had perfect attendance freshman year, and was a scholar-athlete in the conference both years.

I also was accepted into a leadership "academy" after sophomore year.

Due to unhealthy relations in my mother's home, I moved to live with my dad and his family in a different but neighboring state, thus switching schools as well.

I went from being a top student-athlete at a rural, small town school to a suburban, ultra-competitive school with more than three times the student body than before.

That being said, although the expectations at my new school were much higher, I struggled to stay afloat. I did choose to take one AP class my first year at this new school living with my dad (Junior Year) and multiple Dual Credit/Honors classes. After junior year completed, my gpa dropped significantly, I earned my first grades below a B (some C+ and a D in Dual Credit Trig. which was a grade ahead of standards) and did not get a varsity letter in one of the sports I had gotten one in at my old school. However, I did get my third consecutive varsity letter in track on a team ranked in the top 20 in the state out of all divisions (Old school was D2/D3 public, new school is D1 public high school).

The high school I go to now while living with my dad is literally ranked 15th in the whole state by U.S. News out of ALL high schools in the state. Academically and athletically, it's a powerhouse and expectations are extremely high in all areas.

That being said, my gpa, grades, and athletic performance all deteriorated drastically after my move. I love the big environment and how much there is to offer, on top of being able to be really challenged. It was hard moving schools and the family in which I was living with, and my grades have not yet recovered still.

Overall weighted: 3.4
3 AP classes total (old school did not offer AP classes to underclassmen so all 3 of total APs taken at new big school)
Too many to count honors/dual credit classes
25 Cum. on ACT
-31 in reading section, 11/12 in writing...but a 20 in math :/

Top School Choices:
1. Ohio University (Accepted)
2. Purdue (Awaiting decision, getting PMS interview done here)
3. Indiana University (Accepted)
4. Bowling Green State University (Accepted into Honors College here)
5. Cedarville University (Accepted, this one is private)

Physical Fitness test:
1 mile time: 7:05
Push Ups in 1 min: 48
Sit Ups in 1 min: 54
-
Pull Ups: 9 in a row

Because I am a female and my physical fitness level is higher than average, I believe that part of the application puts me above other applicants. However, my junior-senior year grades are low, even though I am in weighted classes. Also, my gpa is alarming. ACT is pretty average...the 31 in reading is good, the almost perfect in writing is good, but the math is horrible.

What are my HONEST chances at getting a 3 year AD scholarship for ROTC at either my choice 1 or 2 college(s)?

(Colleges in Indiana AND Ohio are in state tuition for me...this will probably effect board's decision because of money).

My resume is much bigger than what's on here, lots of other EC's besides sports, volunteering hours (not done for NHS since I don't qualify with that gpa lol).

I loved Ohio University...Purdue is sweet too. Really need this scholarship for financial stability, and I know for sure I want to serve some way in either Army or Marines. If I got this scholarship, it would obviously be through army.

Thank you so much for reading all this! I hope you are not too confused.

Also, I do not qualify for any academy. Obviously. Already tried that. Open to active duty and National Guard but would prefer college first then serving or both at the same time.

*application will be ready once PMS interview is done. Getting this done first week of November. 2nd board will view my application in December*

Thanks!!!!!

Like the "Stat me" post's before, we can't tell you anything. We don't know the competition your facing or how many scholarships are being awarded out this time. All I can tell you is this, if you complete your application you have a chance, if you don't you have no chance. So just apply and hope for the best.
