I applied to aim but was told that I did not get accepted through the lottery system. however they offered for me to attend cadet for a day which I will be attending in november. I am curious if they send this to everyone who did not get accepted to aim. also, what is cadet for a day like.

I was put in the lottery and not chosen, as well, and the same invitation was extended to me. I believe if you were found qualified to attend AIM you were extended the invitation to Cadet for a Day.

They only sent this to qualified people that were not chosen in the lottery. I attended cadet for a day in September and I would highly reccomend it. You get a good idea of what the academy is like down to seeing the swabs belt there rates(I believe this is what there called) before formation. I would also try to get in contact with coaches for your sport. I had the chance to go out with the dinghy team. If the trip is feasible momentarily for you I would say it's nessacary if you want to attend the academy.

thanks for your advice. I see that you are a candidate for the uscga. have you had your interview yet.

an interview is not required for admission to the Academy due to the shortage of people around the country...however, I believe that they will do some sort of evaluation for you when you go to Cadet for a Day (at least I assume so, because the cadre did an evaluation of each one of us who went to AIM)
