Cadets instructed by USAFA leadership not to use words like "Mom" and "Dad"

I googled it and found out Furries are essentially white supremecists. Now I am torn. On the one hand that's not who we are and there is no place for such people...errr...animals here.

On the other hand if we really want to be inclusive there is no reason we should make them feel invisible and ignore the needs of their community. If they want to put a litter box for tomcats in the ladycats bathroom then who are we to deny their existence or needs? That is the type of narrow reactionary thinking that hinders diversity and as we all know diversity is strength. Diverse teams, and litterbox locations, work better and are more successful than homogeneous hater teams and bathrooms.

Part of the issue is that you are entering a minefield based on how people see their identities and there are consequences for misstating them. Usually you get one pass if you claim unintentionality or simple mistake and are humble. A repeat offense however is actionable and may have career consequences.

Say for example you work with Major James and one day he decides he is now Major Jamie. Perhaps you are of the level where you can call each other by first names in the appropriate situation and you say "good morning James" and she kindly corrects you "it's Jamie now." That is your one freebie. You are on the hook for any "James" going forward because it is workplace harassment now that you are on notice. Or you are a subordinate and you say "yes Sir" one day. Check yourself. You have been warned - politely no doubt. Any misstep going forward means counseling, perhaps punishment, perhaps lack of promotion, perhaps separation or even criminal charges.
Emphasis mine. I'm not sure where you're getting this notion of "one freebie".

Any reasonably healthy workplace culture would have a continuum of means to address the scenario that you describe, most of which would no doubt start with several polite requests for the preferred address. Now if an individual were deliberately obtuse or spiteful towards another in the sense that they make continued "intentional mistakes", then sure, I could see consequences becoming more severe.

The Dems were in the forefront of civil rights in the 1960s except for those Dems in dark red states.

in fact the Dems lost the south which at one time they owned , because of civil rights, school integration, voting rights.

it was not nixon ( on tape an avoid racist and anti semitic) driving civil rights for minorities it was Kennedy and Johnson.

I don’t see how this can be debated.

now if you go back to 1860 and the start of the civil war you will find the republicans on the correct side of this issue. Correct side I realize is a relative term. Many I realize will think the wrong side lost.

i still have no idea what this discussion, civil and friendly or not, has to do with USAFA admission questions. It’s a great topic for “off topic”.
Just to be clear, my post was intended to show what you are saying. I also don't mention Nixon driving civil rights but instead invoking his "Southern Strategy."
As to why the topic is here, I was replying to the previous post mentioning that more Dems voted against the civil rights bill than Reps. I don't know how it veered toward that posting.

Furries are essentially white suprematists? I didn’t get that from my simple search. I don’t see how mentally unhinged humans wanting to live as other mammals equate to white supremacy. I’m hoping your post is satire.
The majority of humans I know help one another and give a s@$t about their fellow man or woman regardless of color or religion or political bent.
I’m fairly certain that no first responder in Florida gave a rat’s rear end what color or race or political bias they were rescuing. And I am fairly certain that no one being rescued would refuse said rescue if the wrong pronoun or genus were used.

I miss the days when we could tell people their actions were stupid. Now we’ve got furries in schools demanding we install litter boxes and we get fired if we don’t play along with their mental illness.
I never even knew what a "furry" is, until this post prompted me to google it. Thanks SAF.

Who can say what satire is these days but the linked article is definitely not satire. Woke perhaps, but they are serious about it. Here it is again in case you missed it.

We are in a period where law and consequences are minimized for one group of protestors (punch a nazi rioters and BLM arsonists) and applied harshly for another (MAGA insurrectionist paraders).

One of the points of having a DEI bureaucracy and student commissars is to make sure the right people can get the right message out while the wrong people can be censored, cancelled, or punished.

Don't write a good diversity statement when applying for an instructor position? No chance at being hired.
Don't match the desired demographic? Less to no chance of being promoted.
Contribute to some micro-aggression? Persecuted or ignored depending on your group status.

DEI emphasizes differences and the people indoctrinated with it do give a...whatever...about differences. Differences (Diversity) is our greatest strength. Differences must therefore be heavily emphasized particularly the really important stuff like what % of tan you are, whether you had a great grandparent from Iberia, and how you visualize your ideal partner.

"I’m fairly certain that no first responder in Florida gave a rat’s rear end what color or race or political bias they were rescuing. And I am fairly certain that no one being rescued would refuse said rescue if the wrong pronoun or genus were used."

You may be right about that but remember the slide says "Not "colorblind" or "I don't see color" or "we're all just people."" They are specifically telling cadets not to say what you just described. Ask yourself why.
