California Appointments

I'm from the 27th district! I got nominations from Congressman Brad Sherman & Senator Barbara Boxer.

senator boxer told me that would not double nominate people, so how did you get both? or were they for different academies?
 
Good luck to all of you CA's! We are on "the other coast" here in Virginia and have not seen any Virginians either! Maybe they save the coasts for last! I hope you all get the BFE! My son is hoping for the same.
 
Has anyone received an appointment who didn't have an LOA, Principle nom, or prep school connection? :confused:
 
I think it is possible for someone to get a double nomination, as long as one of the nominations isn't a principal nomination.

I know at least two who didn't get principal nomination, prep school or a LOA.

Jase: Are you talking about those two recruited athletes from the same high school? (I should have included athletes with LOA's, principles and prep schools in my previous post.)

No I don't mean the atheletes, didn't even consider them when I said that I knew at least two people. I am the only one that I know of from my district, but I know of a few that are outside those four categories you mentioned.

Just trying to get a feel for how many appointments have gone out in the 'regular' appointments category. It didn't look like they had started making offers from the competitive slates yet.

I went to River City High School in West Sacramento, c/o 2010. What school do you go to? So your applying for USAFA 2016? or 2015?
 
CA 2015

I'm from CA District 2 (Redding)-Congressmen Herger. My brother is a graduate from 2007, now flying C130's. I went to Summer Seminar last summer. Received my nomination from Congressmen Herger about a month ago. Still waiting though...

I'm at Napa High School right now. I'll be applying for the class of 2016. I just went to thompsons napa office and got the application for a nomination paperwork. Was there a lot of people applying for the nominations? And does Thompson do primary nominations?

I'm not quite sure how many people applied. I didn't recieve a nomination from them last year and got a falcon scholarship but recieved a nomination this year after a relaxed and comforting interview with them. I don't think they do principle nominations but not sure on that I know I was number one on their list but don't know much other than that. They didn't even call me to tell me I recieved my appointment like so of my friends got calls. We have a fairly large district like I'm an hour and a half from napa and still in your district! Lol. But not sure on alot of their stuff. What does you file look like right now?

Hey no worries man, yeah I saw the district map and it looks like first district runs up the coast to Oregon. um as far as my profile at the moment, I have a 4.33, class rank 40 something out of 605 I think. SAT 650 math, 600 reading, 530 writing (took it as a feeler back in November, studying and taking it in may) boys state nominated (but didn't get it), was on jv track last year, and jv basketball, did city league basketball 9th grade and this year, and I used to do kajukenbo. I volunteer at a middle school Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am a co leader for a church Sunday school group. I work part time at a shoe store and I'm working on getting my private pilots license. I've done a few leadership things but no captains or anything. Oh yeah and I did taekwondo for like 8 years but that was before high school so I don't think I'm allowed to use it on my app... Which sucks because i did a lot of volunteering and teaching of classes, oh well. I think that's about it for now, I know it's not very close to being good yet but I'm working on it

Your final doesn't look too bad way better than mine did last year. If anything I would suggest prep school if you don't get in your first year but I guess I'm a bit bias there. But it's a great experience!! I would suggest that if you can afford it you retake the SAT and ACT as many times as you can afford because the academy will take your top scores from each section from kilotons tests. Thank you very much, I will probably have many more questions for you about Thompson nominations when that time rolls around
 
Did anybody get a nomination yet from CA?

If so, any of you get a phonecall from Senator Boxer if she was your MOC?
