Calling All Football Fans

25,000 fans were at Gillette Stadium to send the Pats off to the Airport enroute to Indianapolis.

I love football but geez. Half of these same folks won't be able to make time to vote in the next election. Panem et Circenses . Well I hope it's a good game.
Pats by 7

Perhaps they needed to have a few voter registration tables out there???

You can lead the voter to the polls, but you can't make him cast a ballot.

If Gronk is healthy (more than Roethlisberger with his ankle), you have my agreement on the spread. If he is hobbled, the Giants have enough quality DBs to cage in Hernandez and Welker and I say Giants by 1.

Did anyone see that wrap job on Gronk's ankle before the game? IDK if he is going to be very effective.

Anyone thinking about college football?
- Thoughts about who will be #1?
- Who will win the CIC Trophy?
- Navy/Notre Dame - in Dublin!
- Alabama/Michigan
- Auburn/Clemson
- Army returning with 4 year starter at QB
- USAFA without 5 players
- PennState without Joe Pa
- LSU without the honey badger

In keeping with the spirit of this venerable thread, I foresee Columbia going undefeated in the regular season, beating Stamford in the Rose Bowl, then being declared the unofficial national champion.

Also, Russia will join the League of Nations

Go Bears, Beat Kings Point!

40th Secretaries Cup

US Merchant Marine Academy Mariners vs US Coast Guard Academy Bears

September 8th 2012
2:30PM
Cadet Memorial Field
New London, CT

The last 5 games have been won by the home team, USCGA winning in 2007 and 2010 at New London, while USMMA won in 2008, 2009, and 2011 at Kings Point.

Game can be hear locally on WXLM 980 or via their streaming feed on their website.

Indeed, as Navy is now forced into a conference schedule where they cannot pick and choose those places they'll play, Navy's "salad days" or maybe salad seasons are likely soon to be substantial history. No more Western MIchiagans, WFU,SMU, Delawares, etc. as a steady diet.

What I find amazing is that Gladchuk (or whoever's gotten too close to the Navy mirror, persuaded this is more than it can be going forward) has grossly over-reached putting in place a plan to expand a stadium that is often ... OFTEN ... sorely empty, even if tix have been sold. Tulsa made this mistake years ago, thinking that the community would flock to a monster stadium. They never did. And now they have been stuck trying to "shrink" a stadium and eliminating hoards of empty seats. Here's hoping I'm all wet on this. I'd bet not.

Coast Guard beats MIT by two touchdowns 35-14. :thumb:

Army loses 41-40 to Northern Illinois. :unhappy:

Navy is still winless, getting blown out by Penn State 34-7.

Kings Point gets a win on Parent's Weekend over NY Maritime 19-14. :thumb:

Air Force was idle. :sadwavey:

Looks like Navy football is in for a long season.

They'll get a win next week. I'll be pulling for the Keydets, of course, but they are traditionally very bad in football efforts. They are particularly bad against FBS teams.

I shall be there to watch them in their effort, however.

Beyond the Veemies and several weaker sisters toward the schedule's end, this could be a long season with more on the come as future schedules are increasingly dictated by D I conference domos.

Still think the decision to build a bigger stadium is a major mistake. It's demoralizing to play in front of massified empty seats, and that happens too often even when Navy's had stronger teams and winning seasons. Getting too close to the mirror can lead to loss of perspective, can't see the acne for the pimple on the nose.

Thanks for the update - I missed this. My youngest son's roommate at MIT is on the football team - probably why that son didn't mention the loss! And my middle (also at MIT, but NROTC) did say that he did color guard this weekend and met the Commandant of the CGA but I had no clue of why he was there. Putting it all together now!

If only football games were shorter in time, Army's W-L record (this year and in past years) would be very different.
They just can't finish the game.

Hope you all don't mind if I proclaim Air Force keeping the CIC trophy this year. Actually; I think Air Force has a chance of competing for conference champion this year. Anyway; I do hope the 5 academies do play an injury free remainder of the season.

I think Christcorp may be right. I just got back from State College and was at the Navy game. I am not sure but, I think Navy moved the ball better after Miller left the game. Their schedule should get a little easier for them.

RGK

They can't start the game, either.

Well - Army did score first against No. Ill and scored 6TDs. Good to see that they didn't give up and fought back after being down 3 TDs.
But where is the defense? Is it because most teams we play have O lines that outweigh our defense by 800 lbs?
Also - missing that PAT. Missing a PAT at the D1 level is :bang:

I still have hope for Army against Navy this year.
Especially if we can figure out some way to shorten the game clock.
