Calls?

Each MOC will handle it in their own way. DD had an appointment to USAFA and USNA. Neither of her nominating sources called to inform her. (Congressman Fincher and Senator Alexander - TN)
 
My son got his call from our congressman on his cell phone around 5:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. It was from a private number. Hope you get your call!
 
Our Congressman called the school but my DS had just left for the day. He then called my cell and told me why he was looking for him. I gave him my son's cell phone and he called to let him know he would be receiving an offer of appointment within the next 24 hours. It was great and the appointment came at about 5AM the next morning and was accepted by my DS before 6AM.

BTW - say a little prayer for the Cadets in the Class of 2020 for the next couple of weeks as they approach Recognition. It is the process that basically combines BCT into one long weekend and signifies the end of the Doolie year. All of the 2020 Cadets are nervous.
 
I neglected to mention that although our Senator called to let my DS know he received his nomination, our Congresswoman did not call but emailed to notify him.
 
Funny story. I didn't get my mail yesterday and when I opened my mailbox this morning I noticed a larger envelope from my congressman and immediately thought of this thread. My heart started beating quickly and I got nervous but when I opened it up... I just had to laugh at myself. It was just a photo from the nomination ceremony!

I'm still nervously waiting on a word back just like thousands of others. Now time to get back to filling my time to help it go by quicker!

When people say they've received a call about an appointment from Congressmen X or Senator Y, how did the call come? Did they call your school and get you called out of class to tell you? Did you just receive a call on your cell phone during school hours? Or is it in the evening after you return home?

The MOC that gave my DS an appointment had his aide call my son directly. She could not get in touch with him. So she left a voice mail with me at my work number. I called her back and she gave me the news. Come to find out my son forgot to inform them of his new cell number. So I gave the aide his new number, but she still could not get in touch with him. So I told him a couple days later...and also TOLD him to give the aide a call of thanks (since they were both in Austin about 7 blocks apart (he attends UT), I really wanted him to go in person).
 
I got a call today in the middle of class from a restricted number! Had to duck out of class real quick before we started our test haha. Got to talk to my Senator about Triathlons and the Academy for a bit. He said my portal would be updated around the 15th!
 
Surprise surprise! The Congressman's office sent an email for my SD/Vet nominated child... and United him to a reception and told him about his appointment!
Dancing Falcon. It looks like you all will be classmates at USAFA rather than VMI.

Or the phone calls may never come.... My DD received her nominations from a Congressman who lost last year and a Senator who retired. I guess when the MOC offices are winding down, they are more focused on their civilian life.

Ha! Same thing here. DS got a nice note and pics a few days ago too. But the wait continues....
 
My DS's senator nom has been used by another on his slate and his congressman did not run for re-election so we are guessing no call will come. We are still praying the portal changes to appointee very soon....
