So, I'm curious about the USAFA experience. My time in the Air Force as an enlisted SP was one in which I made lifelong friends. I don't know that I get the feeling that the Academy is the same way. I don't get the opposite sense, either... It's more of a black box to me. Most Academy graduated officers give an impression of real competence, but it's somewhat aloof... More so in my experience than officers from other commissioning sources. Is there a sense of fraternal bond among the cadre that's just difficult to discern externally, or are they really just a bit more distant than other folks?

Well, cadets and graduates are not all alike. I would say there is a bond, particularly with squadron mates and classmates. How strong depends on the person though.
