Does Westpoint allow you to post at camp zama japan following your commission?

Does your specific branch as an officer determine your likelyhood to post there?

yes you can go there if there are slots for your branch. It would be possible for certain support branches (MI or Signal come to mind). The number of infantry, armor or artillery jobs at Zama is by exception until after company command.

Mod Note:
Moving this thread to "Life After the Academy."

Camp Zama is my DS 'dream' station and he hasn't even gotten his appointment yet. We stayed at the New Sanno this summer and visited Camp Zama for a day.

I lived at Camp Zama for 10 years (Elementary School - High School then College Summers). Great little base with excellent opportunities to see lots of Japan and travel throughout the Far East.

Going through westpoint, would camp zama be considered a competitive post, something that is quickly snatched up on post night?

Also, does the 101st airborne occupy camp zama or is it another it multiple units?

Also an aviation unit, but that would be assigned in flight school and very rare, though I do know a guy who went there as an LT.
Engineer and quartermaster also come to mind.
