So there is a kid in my senior class along side me who wants to go to a Service Academy and he is only pursuing the Naval Academy. I was just curious if the Naval Academy would take 2 kids from the same school. He is more than likely going to get accepted in my opinion. He is a great student, highest ranking in NJROTC, etc. I am a good student but do not stack up well against him. So i was wondering if I should focus more on another Academy instead. I really do not care what service I go in, I just want to serve and have the Service Academy experience. Mainly how does he affect my chances?

doesn't matter...continue to pursue USNA. you never know how the board might view him vs you. you also don't know if he'll receive a nom and you just might...

There is no formal limit I'm aware of as to the number of applicants chosen from any one school although the MOC's may want to spread the wealth around in terms of nominations.

I am a BGO and have had several from the same high school class get appointments.

At one point my former Mid was one of six from the same high school that were at the Naval Academy at the same time.

Do not worry about this kid worry about putting together the best application you can and give it 100% your best effort. The Naval Academy will figure it out.

Multiple students from same high school class

There are 3 Plebes from one high school in Memphis in this year's class.

My son and one of his classmates are in the 2015 class. So yes, more than one student from the same high school can receive nominations to the USNA.

Absolutley more than one person from a high school can attend USNA. Regardless of what he or she is applying to, apply to all the SA you want to attend. Even if he or she on paper may be better, you never know what will happen during interviews or DoDMERB screenings. You can only control what you do, so focus on that.

One of my classmates in company went to the same high school as me. So yes, absolutely possible

my school normally sends about 4 kids each year to a service academy. 3 went to usna this year. we had 7 go in 2009..unusual,yes...but keep in mind there are 4000 kids at my high school, in a very military supportive area. :)

There were two from my daughter's HS Class.

My daughter goes to a relatively small school in Oklahoma City with a graduating class of about 75. She got accepted to and is currently at NAPS and another from her class is a plebe right now. It can happen.
