Hey all,
I was medically disqualified for asthma by DoDMERB for "mild intermittent asthma" after age 13. Since that time I have received a waiver from USAFA (file update on February 25) making me "commission qualified" (but pilot DQ'd).
Early in this process my ALO said he thought I had a pretty solid application, but that getting a waiver would be my biggest hurdle. Given that the academy *did* consider my file competitive enough to justify a waiver, I am very hopeful that I will receive an appointment (although, of course, I know nothing is in stone and I can't make any assumptions). So my question is this: can having a waiver on file (as opposed to being medically qualified without a waiver) delay an appointment?
I have read that people have heard that everyone waiting should be receiving letters in the next week or two, but I just want to check that in my own case having a waiver on file wouldn't delay things further. My assumption is that once I received the waiver, my file would be treated as if I never needed a medical DQ in the first place - but all this waiting is driving me crazy and is magnifying everything I can think of that would be a problem.
Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide!
Ben
