Can an ROTC unit appeal a rejection on your behalf?

If it is your #1 choice, it cannot hurt to speak to the ROO or PMS about your rejection. They may or may not have sway with the admissions department. However, there are NO guarantees that the cadre will have any influence whatsoever.

In the meantime, were you accepted to another school on your scholarship list? If so, you should be preparing to accept that in time to pursue it as your plan B.

Yes and I agree. It is just tough moving on :/ gotta trust the process though!

@Cadet35 ,

Several years ago my DS#2 and his best buddy both applied to U Mich. My son was a Merit Scholar Finalist with a high class rank. He applied early action, non-binding. He got an acceptance in late Jan. His best buddy was first in his class and had a perfect SAT. I don't remember if he applied early action, but he was rejected. I don't think he ever really intended to go to U Mich, given that he'd already been accepted to Columbia among others.

I have a good friend in town who has a college admissions counselling/test prep business. I asked him about this. He said that admissions departments, at ultra competitive schools in particular, have a nose for whom they really believe will attend. They will quickly reject those who they believe will not attend. Their goal is to have the highest % of rejections with the highest % of actual attendance among those accepted. His advice was, "If this kid really has his heart set on U Mich and his physician parents are ready, willing, and able to pay the full OOS freight, he should let them know immediately. They'll let him in."

So my advice to you is to take @AROTC-dad 's advice. Contact the ROO and PMS and respectfully ask if they can provide any assistance. Let them know that either way, YOU are going to appeal to the admissions department. Go to admissions. Show them the 3 or 4 yr scholarship (assuming you have one), and let them know that they are your first choice.

You have nothing to lose.

Best of Luck!

Thanks but I applied early decision and I made them well known of this. Unfortunately l am assuming my test scores must’ve been the deal breaker for me. Honestly it’s just a shock and hard to move on because my only other options are the SAs which are great but competitive. Otherwise I have schools that are decent but I don’t really want to attend.

Do you have the scholarship in hand and if so do they know that?

Sometimes we have to make lemonade.
EDIT: I expect you're past the application deadline for most colleges and that you are probably limited to those you've already applied to. Of course there may be some with late deadlines.
