After graduation from NROTC program, will you be commissioned active duty for 5 years right away. So you know how to plan, 5 years then 3-years reserve. What is reserve, has anyone been called back to active duty from this? Do you have innactive status after the 8 years, or are you completely done. Does USNA have any commitment at all possible after the 5 years.

This was recently addressed but since I'm too lazy to look it up, after the 5 years you owe three years inactive reserves. USNA has the same requirement. I have not heard of the navy calling anyone up from the inactive reserves in recent history but if anyone knows better they can correct me.

I know 2 teachers at the Academy who were inactive reserve before they started teaching here again. I don't know if the Navy called them up or if they requested to come her, but they're here and are treated as active officers.

Most of them ask for the job, I know of one PMP when I was there that the academy asked, but it was a "will you", not a "you will".
