Thank you! Hoping everything goes as planned and I hear something back soon. Do you happen to know if NC still has spots left?

My DS is from NC 12 has an LOA and is on the DIY appointment thread. He ran into a young woman at Senator Tillis interviews who also had an LOA. There are six spots for NC and then competitive candidates get stack ranked on national list. You look competitive. Keep updating admissions with any new awards and 7th semester grades. Get DODMERB taken care of. Good luck.

I'm sorry if I'm understanding this wrong, but NC has a certain amount of slots, and if you don't make that cut, You go to a ranked national pool? Or is it I'd you don't make it in one of the State slots then you are done for the year?

USMMA is different from the other SA. Each state has a quota and NC gets 6. States like Texas, California, Florida get more... landlocked states typically gets less. If all 6 are taken you aren't done if you are competitive, only admissions knows the answer. If you are competitive you go to the national pool. If you aren't competitive you don't. You won't get an email saying you are in the national pool, you will see your portal turn to hold. Hold status is a good thing because admissions is going to hold you to stack rank you. I recommend you stay in touch with your admissions officer (Lt. Wheeler).

Okay great! Thank you for this information. My application has been done since early Dec, And my status has been in HOLD ever since. Hopefully I will hear something back soon!

What about DODMERB?
Currently in the REMEDIAL REQUESTED stage. My medical technition told me that DoDMERB has been going through some problems with their site, and with the government shutdown, so hopefully I can figure out what I have to send in soon.

Yes, bad timing for DoDMERB website and government shutdown. Stay on top of it.

In the meantime, if you can visit KP for an overnight and meet with track and soccer coaches. Good luck!

My DS visited in the summer for the day, he’s been on hold since August, everything is completed and he has 2 nominations. But no LOA. Waiting on 7th semester grades which won’t come out until after Jan 31st. Should he still try and do an overnight ?

My understanding was overnights were only for those accepted.....

My DS is also from NC and waiting. Application is complete, has passed DODMERB and has 2 nominations ( plus one from USNA). He has been contacted for athletics as well. This wait is tough. We will be glad when we have an answer.

7th semester just finished but school has not updated transcripts.

His overnight visit is next week.

You look competitive to me! We share a lot of the same characteristics/qualities as far as academics, athletic involvement, etc... I got an LOA a while back (from a different state), but they'd have to be crazy not to offer you an LOA or appointment! Good luck!
If you can snag an overnight, I 110% recommend. I had mine several years ago (I'm a recruited athlete so I went as an underclassman and stayed with some girls from the team), and it totally sealed the deal for me. I was younger then but the impressions that I got while I was there never left my mind. Here I am a few years later!

I don’t see your pull up score. I thought you were a female. What’s the pull up score? Your push ups and sit ups are little low for a fit Athlete. And shuttle run little slow for a track runner. But you have an excellent time on your mile run! I think your SAT is little low. I also think the SAs will use your Unweighted GPA to keep it standard and make adjustment on your GPA with your AP/Honor classes. Most like to report their Weighted GPAs on the forum and that can mislead since some schools weight AP on 5.0 scale and some on 4.25 scale for an A. If applying from a non competitive district I think you can be a competitive candidate. I learned with my DS LOA is subjective by SAs and to districts and is function of district’s supply and demand of applying to the same SA you are applying to. Good luck.

Here are my Statistics:

CFA
  • BBall Throw: 63. 4 ft
  • Shuttle Run: 9.86 Sec.
  • 59 Sit Ups
  • 52 Push Ups
  • 5:52 Mile

Here are the averages for USMMA (and USMA) for CFA for males, and yes, as @CrewDad asked, what is your Pull-Up score (your profile shows you're male)?

USMA and USMMA Average :
Basketball Throw: 67
Pull-Ups: 9
Shuttle Run: 9.1 sec
Sit-Ups: 72
Push-Ups: 54
1-Mile Run: 6:43

It doesn't matter what the average is at USMMA. The CFA is pass fail at our school. I think he passed from what he posted.

If you can retake your SATs in time do it. They're a little low, especially math. Just focus on math and try and get that up to 700. Realistically they don't care as much about reading, USMMA is a tech/trade school.

I'm aware of this. I gave the OP information that he might not have.
