Can I bring my pet Guinea Pig to USNA?

This almost made me fall out of my chair.

Yeah I wouldn't, that would be a bad idea. But bring your sense of humor
You're sure to make friends.

At last! I can die peacefully. I have finally seen it all! :biggrin:

d22 -- thanks for yet another laugh today :shake:

As CannotBeDisplayed said the other day, "We need a thread for hall of fame posts on SAF."

With the anxiety some families are feeling these days, a little humor is the best medicine.

BTW, congratulations on you son's appointment. :smile:

Thanks! We're all very excited about it. Good luck to your DS as he starts this up & down journey.

There certainly have been some memorable threads in the last few months. Never would have guessed guinea pigs would be the subject of one of them. :biglaugh:

I love it!

When one of my sons was around 6th grade, he met an Attack Sub CO, and was sold. That was going to be his path, done deal. A few months later, he wanted a bearded dragon. I said "What are you going to do with the bearded dragon when you are an Officer on a fast attack?". He showed me the research that it wouldn't live that long.

Well, it has.

He is now at West Point, and we have a greying bearded dragon in his childhood bedroom! (Anyone want one?)

My Dad was USMA, and had a pet sun bear in the Korean War, but outside wartime....no, you cannot have a pet -;

I have a greying bearded dragon too...DS was 9 and had to have it...yeah, you can have monty.... cheap!

@ bandad-being the pictures to Herndon. It sounds Like an adventure!

Vista123, I think we are planning on going to Herndon too. We need to see who all is coming from our Company and hopefully get everyone together. :smile:

please! his sister's have no interest in monty.. can't belive i've actually been to a reptile swap..

:eek:

Well, in the spirit of this, prospective new Cadets need to know, they cannot have pets. They cannot have guns either -;.

But to cheer prospectives up, I have met some high speed kids (one just got Attack Choppers) who travel everywhere with their cute and fuzzy stuffed animals. If it doesn't breath, and doesn't explode, (and fits in a locker or under the bed) you can bring it (but well advised to leave home till after Beast -;)

I think the first step is bringing it to your blue and gold interview, then wait for the DoDMERD Vet certification form, and finally it will need to be included in your MOC nomination package with photo. On IDay bring enough food as it will be taken and placed in storage until plebe summer concludes at which point you may retrieve along with your cell phone.

So what you're saying is after plans year we can bring our guns? :thumbup:

When I 1st joined this site, somebody asked if they could bring their horse on the AFA forum. The thread quickly diverted to cats, gerbils, snakes and goldfish.

My only questions are these:
1. Who feeds the animal during beast?
2. Are the folks going to bring it for Parents weekend?
~~~IOW are they not clued into the SA lifestyle?
3. Does it count against the personal items for the C4C year?
~~~ you must love it a lot, which frightens me from a mental perspective if you are only allowed a few items to have.

Honestly, this person. Has to be a troll. Have to give him:yay::worship::biglaugh::wave: for making everyone laugh and forget the stress of appointments.

If the OP is a troll, I also give yoiu a :thumbdown::hammer: because these posters are willing to defend your right to free speech which includes yanking their chain with trolling. You may think this is a game, but this will be their life until they are 27, at best.
~~~~ Do us all a favor before you troll read the thread under Life After the Academy thread entitled TODAY IN CLASS HISTORY started by scout, especially their age when they died. If you were ten years older that would be your classmates.
@ Pima, your post is baffling to me. Sometimes you just have to say, "lighten up Francis."
@ Bandad, I need one more snow day to make it to Herndon. DS #2's graduation is that wkend (which unfortunately takes precedence) however, one more snow day and they will move graduation back. 'Hoping for another polar vortex so we can go to Herndon.
