Hi, Im just wondering is anyone has had any experience with dropping classes their senior year after they have received an appointment and whether they had to notify anyone or if it affected their appointment. I am not for sure dropping a class but I am greatly considering it. It is not a class I need and I am taking many other classes, and it does not interest me.
Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem, you'll need to report the change, but unless it's an AP class that is required for graduation you should be fine.

If its a physics class I would say don't drop but it depends on the reason to drop? I had a friend who waited until July to get their coast guard academy appointment, they look at second-semester grades too, because there's a lot of people that get waitlisted. If your grades drop and they can find someone better they will take them. Ask your high school guidance counselor they know more than us. If it's an art or elective class that doesnt matter or interest you I say drop the class.

I made a switch to my second semester schedule this year too. I just emailed my RC, told him the class I wanted to drop, and got approval. He said that as long as I did not have a D or an F first semester I would be fine.

Okay so I want to drop AP Physics 2. I took AP Physics 1 last year and got a B+ but it is way harder this year and my first quarter grade was a B but its dropping this quarter and I think 3rd quarter is only supposed to get harder until 4th quarter... so I'm not failing it but I'd prefer not to have it and have an open study period. I'm already taking 4 other APs so it's not like it is my only one and I have had a whole year of Physics. I know that I will definitely fail the AP exam so it's not like it would help my validate any courses at the academy anyways

what is an RC?

I dropped two classes to pick up an internship this last semester, and I'm not worried about it affecting mine. I talked to my BGO and he said it was good and to not even worry about telling admissions. The classes I dropped though weren't full year ones like AP Physics 2. They were both college classes that I take away from my high school. Idk maybe my BGO gave me bad info, but you've already taken AP Physics 1, and you have your appointment so you're not really competing with anyone anymore. I'd say don't sweat it.

Edit: I didn't realize this was in the USAFA group because I'm on the app and wasn't really paying attention, but I still think what I said would probably cross over from USNA to USAFA
