Can you appeal a "Negative" Decision on NROTC Scholarship?

Yes you can go SWO(N) through NUPOC. Just some additional info, he will have to pass a phone interview and then the interview in D.C. first. After graduation, if he goes the SWO way, he'll qualify SWO and then go to power school and prototype.

My DS is sitting her reading this with me. He is definitely going to pursue this option. Thank you !

Spartan -- where the he!! you been? Joined in 2012 and have a total of 25 messages? And then you come up with this option for AC94? I don't even understand half of what you wrote but what a godsend.

What a great forum. Just sayin'

I applied to USCGA and did not get in so I started NROTC as a college programmer in hopes of getting some letters of recommendation from the CO but ended up getting a sideload 3 year scholarship after my second semester so I don't think one has to wait until second semester sophomore year.

If a commission in the Navy is the end game, I would definitely recommend joining as a college programmer and trying for a sideload scholarship. If you're a stud and your staff advisers know it, you'll have a good shot at a 3 year scholarship. Good luck.

You're correct. I meant to say second semester of FRESHMAN year.

NUPOC
The Navy web site does not have a lot of information on the program. But if you google search you can find some. Here are a couple of links that give a better idea about the program. The testing / interview is intensive. You need a solid background in math and physics to get into the program (as you would expect to become a Nuke Officer)

Thank you for the links!!

And if he has any interest in being a Civil Engineer Officer (Seabee), then Navy CECP is a great option as well; pays the same as NUPOC but then he would be a civil engineer in the Navy.
