Background: Last year, our son applied to the Naval Academy and was offered a CVW which he took advantage of, visiting Annapolis in late Oct. (and loved it). After failing to receive an appointment last spring, he accepted an academic scholarship to a 4-year college and began the re-application process, this time to both USMA and USNA. Now, from what I understand, as a college applicant to the academies, his file won't even be considered until his first semester grades are turned in so there's no chance of a LOE or offer of an overnight visit. Questions: First of all, is that true - will his file be ignored until his college grades are in? Secondly, is it OK for him to call and request an official visit to USMA? If so, is there an official process or channel to follow? Thanks for any info you can offer.
