On the " Instruction to candidates" , it says " Remember, all activities sent to us after submission of this form, must be verified by a school official". My question, for the many activities out of the school, such as Boy Scout, church, CAP, and volunteer places like library, hospital etc, how could school official know and verify? Thanks for your explanation and clarification.

The ALO will likely verify much like an auditor would - by verifying certain things you said you did.

My ALO wanted me to make sure that my volunteer hours were "verifiable."

Is the candidate activities record part of the security clearance check that occurs later on at the academy? I heard that as a part of the investigating they verify this more thoruoughly.

If you are asking, "Will I be found out if i did not accurately report certain things on my application?" The answer is "possibly". It is not uncommon for a false statement to be "discovered" during the security clearance investigation. The consequences "may" include a "less than honorable" discharge which will stay with you for the rest of your life.

I was truthful with everything, it's just some of the things I put down are unverifiable such as intramural sports lradership. I was just wondering if this could cause a problem down the road.

Like everything else...it depends...

If everything on your bio is unverifiable, that sends a message...

It you have a lot of items, the important things are verifiable, the less important unverifiable, then you are like most folks and just fine.

But surely intramural leadership could be verifiable?...intramural activity should be verifiable.

For most activities which occur outside of school, there is an adult who can verify your participation, and the level of it, by phone, letter, email, etc.

Just tell the truth. USAFA is very familiar with all types of activities (outside of school, of home schoolers, etc.). Don't embellish, don't detract.

And stop worrying!

Who do they contact for the verification? I can't imagine they contact each coach/leader/oversee-er individually! Probably our guidance councilor that we put down then, right?
