DS is trying to get ahead as he waits for the portal to open up. Historically- is the CAR a form to be filled out, a document to upload or is it a set of pull down menus with areas to add comments?

If it is a form or document to upload, is there a format that can be shared? Thanks

Respectfully, if you DS is looking for ways to get ahead on his application, then HE should be the one looking for the info. It's not hard to find

regarding the CAR, there is no need to get the form ahead of time. he'd be better off compiling the details of all his activities, achievements, etc, especially the ones that are non-standard. the form is mostly 'check the box', but there is a section for the candidate to insert details. it's limited to a certain number of characters, so it's best to use a resume type format with bullets, not complete sentences.

best of luck

If your kiddo doesn't have a resume they should build it, with dates. Not the type you would necessarily use for a job interview (classic one page) but the kind that assists him in completing his candidate activity portion(every club, award, class, leadership role, community service, etc). Memory fails and our DS referred back to his resume over and over again. Also came in handy for nomination applications. Let him drive, when he needs help, tell him to dig deep before you seek answers elsewhere. Great learning experience for them for sure. Just making it through the application is an experience and they will come away with more skills than they had going in. Good luck!

I have to write eight essays (5 for MOC, 2 for one senator, 1 for another senator). That does not even include any essays an academy or even a college will ask for. My resume has been a HUGE help in assisting me in remembering everything. I actually did it last summer and tweaked it along the way as additional activities came up.

No. I am a rising senior. That’s what is expected to try to get an interview for a nomination where I live.
It’s what I am doing “now”. You can say I have had my sights on this for a llllooonnngggg time. Lol

Whoa...easy there hot runner...This is a marathon, not a sprint ! (You are going to hear that repeatedly until April next year). There is no need to get a jump on the Application. There are somewhere around 15,000+ prospective candidates out there, waiting for their portals to open. Be patient...you are days are from having all the information you need.

If you feel the need to "get ahead" ...I suspect that MOC Nomination applications are available. Work on that.

And I echo A6E's comment -- for all the parents out there...this is DS/DD application, not yours. He/she should be leading the charge.
